The Type R's alright... It's all the bog-standard ones that have been tampered with shittily that let the side down.

Senseless use of money in an attempt to gain poser points? Damned if I know. Sadly my mom's beat up Oldsmobile which is 14 years old now can still ruin these shitboxes in a stoplight race.

I know the real point of the Jazzed-up Civic: it's "having a unique car as a means of personal expression". Er, I read somewhere...
The problem is that a base-model Honda with Shelby stripes, a big exhaust, pointlessly stiffened suspension and spurious Type R and Mugen badges is depressingly not unique.

Isn't it funny how they all eventually evolve into the exact same car? And then there's their stereo systems, which all seem to pump out an obscene amount of bass, and they all play the same techno/dance/rap music. :?

I think the original reason was that it's like a kid's mom's car and therefore when a kid learns how to drive, instead of buying a new car that's fast, he only has the money to soup up his mom's car. Then it got "trendy."

All of the above..

If you want something fast, forget cars, the Russians would gladly sell you a MiG-25, they've had a stand offer out for several more advanced aircraft for years. Though not to many Foxbats are left..

Crouse I'll just keep dreaming of a F-108 Rapier or B-70 Valkyrie, mach 3 sustained..

The mindset must be "I have a fantastic car that I am very proud of - thus I must attract everybody's attention to it though the power of bass, so they will be appropriately impressed by both the car and my personal ingenuity and verve."
But what passers-by actually see is either a Civic or a 15-year-old family car fitted with a spoiler, a metallic blue paintjob and gold wheels in a disasterous attempt to make it look like a Subaru Impreza - with a nondiscript driver in black Oakley T-shirt and shades, listening to Skanks and Bigfoot at 130db. Hmm...

If you want a sportscar, buy a sportscar (even if it's an old one).

Civics are decent cars. It's just that their price tag is ridiculous. Civics are mid-sized economy sedans. They should cost closer to 10K$ instead of past 15$. Sure they upped the engine size from 1.5 to 1.6 ( 1.7 in the EX i think..... not really sure), but it's acceleration is still just utter crap. If they want to mod a Honda, buy a CRX or a Prelude.
