Not the saddest movie ever, but one that made you look at your donut and say 'Geez...there's a hole in the donut.'

Most depressing movie I've ever seen has got to be 'The Man Who Wasn't There', by the Coen brothers.

Uh, can't really think of one, I guess if I had to choose one from what I've seen recently, it would have to be John Q.

The most depressiong one I can remember right now is Requiem for a Dream.

I'm sure there was one in the past that was more depressing but I probably only ever saw it once and have since put it out of my memory.

I found Bicentennial Man and Toy Story rather depressing, don't ask why, I just do.

'The Man Who Wasn't There' really got me down. It's about this chain-smoking barber who fades into the background everywhere he goes. He tries to blackmail his boss, but it destroys everyone he knows and loves, and, eventually, he's executed.

Fun fun.

I agree. 'Requiem for a Dream' was utterly depressing.

Not only did I hate the movie, but I hated the way it made me feel. I was especially angry since I already embrace the message of abstention from drugs.

Matrix 2. I was so depressed after seeing that movie. I hated myself and the world and felt no reason to live after realizing I wasted so much fucking time on so little.

And I'm not being a sarcastic ass either.

Uh, I don't mean 'Depressing because it sucked'. 'Justin and Kelly' was depressing if we use that criteria.

The one with the monkeys. There were twelve or something like that. Maybe thirteen... I doubt it. But it depressed the shit out of me in the ending.

Errr...the movie "12 Monkeys?" Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, Brad Pitt, Christopher Plummer, etc? Written by Terry Gilliam? That movie rocks. The ending is a bit depressing, but it's cool.

I think my pick would probably have to be "Schindler's List" because there are a number of parts of that movie that have me sobbing like a little baby. Plus there's the horrific awareness the entire time that the movie echoes real events of the past, that so many people suffered so much. It breaks my heart every single time.

"Deep Impact." Either that or "Pearl Harbor" (and only because of the inner plot).

I agree. That whole movie just chokes me up because you know that this happened, that people really suffered through that. It's horrifying to know that people can be that cruel to one another.

And you know, it also gives me a lot of hope. Because even when it seems darkest some people have the courage and decency to do what's right. And that one person really can make a difference even in the face of so much evil.

The remake of "Noseferatu" with Klaus Kinski from the early eighties will have you holding a razor blade to your wrist.

"Requiem for a Dream", of course.

There's more that I can't think of right now.

I haven't seen "8 Mile". However, I'm told that at the end, Eminem does NOT get shot and killed. This makes it a sad movie IMHO.

But what's really depressing about that movie is the fact that he made millions of dollars for playing himself.

As of right now, Infernal Affairs. Especially with the alternate ending.

Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl

If you have NOT seen this movie, then go FIND IT.. NOW.

It is an amazing piece about a teenage girl in rising Communist China where as part of a program she was sent into the country side to learn how to be a peasant with the promise after her tour was up she would return back to the city she loved. Yet, of course the government had no intention of bringing these children back home so the story revolves around how she tries to cope with her situation and her desperation to go back home.

Please don't think that you're in the Matrix and kill your parents.

Most depressing moment in any media, was when, in Homeworld, you return to your planet, which has been charred to a crisp, survivors and any beacons dusted. Depresses me to think about it.
I also have to include Dr Strangelove and Life of Bwian.
Sure they're funny as hell, but they still end on a flat.
