All girls want to talk about are about relationships, almost nothing else. They like to label themselves as being an "over-analytical" person when all they "analyze" is whether or not a person could have a crush on them? A lot of them have no idea about current events, find history and politics dumb and boring and cannot even name a favorite book they like to read.

Is it just me, or when you go to parties, or various social function all people want to talk about are their relationships or possiblities of their relationships? I tried injecting a little bit of world politics in it, and let me say, it lasted less than one minute. God.. give me a girl with an opinion!!

In parties or social functions, I would think that most people don't want to think about stuff that is too heavy, or not fun.

It is, after all, a party.

I think you need to meet more women, all the women I know have opinions on many things, and are well informed on them. Maybe I'm just around the right people.

Sorry, I was using social functions in a broad general sense including just hanging out.

Okay then you need to find people and women with more depth.

You should have said "many girls" or even "most girls", man. However, I have met many girls that fit that description. Even more fit HemlockGrey's description, however.

Give the lad a break, I say. It IS a vast overgeneralization, naturally. But it's also a legitimate issue with him, because the women HE'S hanging around with seem to be composed entirely of Soap Opera twits. Could happen, right?

Thus, my advice to him: Go meet other girls. When I was in high school, there were 'types' of social functions I wouldn't go to, because the only thing that would happen would be that a lot of highly impressionable, irresponsible young people would show up, get drunk, and shag like minx.

course, for me, most chicks talk bout politics most the time. such fun, flirting with the protesters.

Maybe you should start moving in different circles where you are more likly to meet people who actually are interested in the same things you are. If you're into politics try joining the youth wing of your chosen party etc. Thats what i did.

I liked the way that chicks spoke in High School, because it allowed me to keep tabs on people very easily. The way I went through my high school career was by being a smartass, and this was made much easier by being on top of the news at all times.

Every day when I take the bus home from the subway station, I'm surrounded by yappy highschool girls who make me glad that I'm no longer in highschool. They get on the bus and bam, they all whip out cell phones and start yaking with their friends about the latest crush and who likes who and all that other shit, it fucking makes my head hurt. Ever heard 10-15 girls on cell phones at the same time yaking on about their inane shit? It's enough to make one pull out a machine gun and start shooting. Thank god for Discmans and noise blocking headphones, otherwise you'd have seen this headline on the news already - "Man Snaps! Guns Down 20 Teenage Girls On Bus!"

Do teenage girls really needs a cell phone,and do they pay themselves for the service or does their parents get stuck with the bill.

I think "what is wrong with kids these days?" would be a better question. Kids these days don't care about nothin but sex and drugs.

Um......no. Not even close. Don't even TRY overgeneralizing that, cuz us kids who actually care about politics/world events/science are gonna be the rich ones paying a shitload for your social security.

Anyways, I do see a lot of girls like that, and I ignore them, but that leaves a precious few (like 1) that are actually smart. My thoughts are just to wait for college and see if I can find anyone there.

I may be opening myself up for flames here, but there is an evolutionary imperative for females in general to be more concerned with provincial matters and less concerned with abstract issues or global politics.

Biologically, the females bear a disproportionate load of the child-rearing and child protection duties, so they need to be more aware of local issues. Men roam and hunt, so they need to be more aware of less provincial issues. Translate that to modern society where girls are in their prime child-rearing years but don't actually have children, and that impulse becomes small-talk chattiness.

Of course, that doesn't mean you won't find girls who think politics (Marina being an excellent example), but it is unfair to say that girls must be stupid if they don't talk about global issues. An interest in provincial matters (and disinterest in global matters) does not necessarily mean that a person is stupid.

To put it bluntly, let's suppose you went through the rest of your life without ever thinking about Israel and Palestine. Would it change anything? Would it make your life worse? Would it affect the world in any way? No. It is simply your personal inclination to talk about such things, and if someone else doesn't want to, that does not make them stupid. I talk about stuff like that, but I don't assume that anyone who doesn't care about it must be an idiot.
