Has there ever been a real-life castaway?

Post by Natorgator »

As everyone knows, there are numerous stories about castaways in our modern culture, such as the movie Castaway, Gilligan's Island, Robinson Crusoe, etc etc. However I don't think I've ever heard of this actually happening within my lifetime or even the past 100 years, does anyone know of such instances where someone was marooned on an island?

Most people now would be too stupid to survive I think. Being that many people live off of fast food and watching telivision. But I'm kinda curious also whether something like that has actually happend.

There is always Alexander Selkirk, who's story actualy inspired Daniel Dafoe to write Robinson Crusoe, but that was 299 years ago. Don't know of others.
