Too Many Forums?

Are there now getting a ridiculous amount of forums and moderators for this board which are detracting from forums where most people would reside and incite more debate, or is it a good idea to split up the board into smaller and smaller sub categories?

I think we have enough.
Anymore and it would be too many.

I can see 25 (!) forums.. It feels like too many of them. The problem will be partially solved with the existence of subforums, in the next version of the software.

I don't mind it. The forums aren't of rediculously narrow scope, so that's good. The benefit of having so many is that if any of them cover a topic that you're uninterested in, you don't have to look at it. For example, I almost never go into the HoS, but if it didn't exist, I'd have to wade through that stuff in Off-Topic, which wouldn't be fun.

I'd say the current number is just right for our current situation.

I feel the same way... I almost never go into slam or into hos because i know there really isn't anything i want to read there. I think that we pretty much have it narrowed down though. We wont need any more forums

Actually, we only have 14 open to all members. I don't think that the private or mod-only forums count in the long run.
And I hardly ever go into SLAM, N&P, and C&G, personally...

It's funny to see so many names in green when you sign on sometimes. We have enough forums, i'd say. But we could use a WWI Naval usergroup.
J-O-K-E people, that was a joke!

Yup, I think we have enough forums for now.
Have a very nice day.

They count for me, since I have to scroll all the way up and down to see the new posts.
A bit annoying, subforums will replace a lot of them much better.

I say the number of forums we have is fine. They aren't too vague to the point where they're ghost forums, and they're all pretty active.

Let's see... I have to see all of 20 forums by myself (that's a lot!) so I think there are enough. Though there are very few forums that I don't go into (I think maybe 7 at the most.. for me that's very few), I do occasionally stop in them. I think that there are enough, but any more would be hazardous.

I think we need so many forums - It divides up a lot of topics people aren't that interested in.
For example, the politics forums was created at a time when OT was inundated with discussions on Iraq etc, and all other threads were becoming lost.
All forums are active - when I log on each day, every single forum on my screen has an unread topic. I do't go into all of them, but I know where the topics I want to discuss woudl be.
Organisation is good.

Easy to fix, get a separate mod account and do all modding with that account.
Remove all mod privs for the colonel and be a regular user most of the time, but when the need arises logon to the mod account and do da thing.

Yes there are too many. The newest Comics, Anime, and Magic is redundant and unnecessary especially if the Justice League is to continue existing as well. I don’t get why it's under Science fiction anyway.
Both of those could stand to die. Its not like off topic can't handle more volume, not when it has several days worth of threads one the first page.

If any of them go HAB will be the first.

I don't think there's too many, I've seen sites that have like 25+ forums.

Actually the JL is refusing to die. Despite deleting every post in it the board still reads that there are 12 posts there. Also whenever I try to delete the forum itself the screen just kind freezes. Maybe a glitch in the software.
