Interesting.

I used to watch that show, but never really thought of that stuff (I was like 7...)

Now it's even more ironic that marketplace has "the song of the count," in its promotions.
"1 2 3 4
1 2 3 4
that's the song of the count"
(1 2 3 4 are 16th notes)

He also looks like Nelson Mandela, and recent reports have him as God.

I think so, too, especially the stuff about Big Bird. Most kids have imaginary friends, someone they can talk because at that age, no children are ever that close. Plus, children are finally grabbing a hold of the language and want to use it all the time. It's not some fucking "mental disturbance."

Bert and Ernie? Coming out? You have got to be kidding me. When I was little, I considered them brothers, or at the very least, good friends. That's what that part of the show tried to show: good friendships, even though the two seemed to be quite opposite.

The Oscar thing I could kind of believe, but the rest of it is horribly overconsidered. The adult cast (not the puppets) I think work on the diversity of people; you have a white man, a spanish woman, a deaf woman, etc., who are all just as capable and intelligent as the next one. So many types of children would be watching that show, and it was important to have an adult they could identify with.

After going to the site, I am not sure if it is serious or not.
If it is serious, the author has "issues."

I am reminded of the review of ST TNG, spouting blatant sexism, racism, ect...
Georde LaForge, is literaly blind without the tools of the white man. He has a French name, and is only fit to fix the white man's machines. Worf is a black man, (Klingon) raised by white parents, constantly seeking his black/klingon roots, all the while having to battle his violent klinon/black nature......
Blah blah blahhhh.....

Sometime a cigar indicates a desire for nicotine, not a sexual metaphore.

1) Everyone could see and talk to the Snuffeluffagus. That's rubbish.

2) ALL vampires are obsessed with counting. (try hiding from one behind a pile of rice or stealing its sock) It doesn't mean anything.

Since when? That was the running joke, Big Bird getting upset because everybody belived that Snuffy was an imaginary friend. Of course, I grew out of it by about seven or thereabouts, so who knows what has changed since then (I've heard rumors of something called an Elmo that has taken over the show).

Seriously, you people do realize it's a joke site, right? If you can't tell that the essay is a joke, the link to the Onion should clue you off.

It has to be a joke. Look at this:
the bottom of the page wrote: The Teletubbies Code: Modern Phoenetic Encryption - We hear baby talk but does China hear secrets?
I just noticed that, laughed my ass off :D

Interestingly enough, there's no mention of killing Elmo. THAT's what I found wrong with it............. :P

I was thinking the other day how good that show really is for kids! Religous/Racial/Social tollerance being very big, and all the basic pre first grade education.

And just like Noddy, what is honestly wrong with kids sharing a bed at a sleep over? I'm sure we all did it at some stage.
