I found cool Star Wars stuff in the basement

I've been helping my mom clean out her basement, get rid of old crap, etc. and came across a bunch of original Star Wars stuff, including:

- several spiral notebooks and one folder with R2 and 3PO on the cover (from the awards scene in ANH). One was never even used, the pages cracked when I opened it up.
- several Star Wars comic books
- my old Star Wars lunch box (with thermos!)
- An ESB tissue box (weird)
- the Mad Magazine issues where they paraody ESB and RotJ.
- A 1978 SW calendar.
- and my fave, the poster than came with the original soundtrack. It's really interesting, a painting of the attack on the Death Star in ANH, with some differences from the movie. No turbolaser 'bolts', just long yellow 'laser' shots; several MFs flying around; and a background of random planets, no Yavin in sight. The poster is in near mint condition too, been hidden away the last 24 years (we moved in '79, most of that stuff would have been packed away then)

Fun to see everything again, but doubt I'd sell any of it though. haha might have to scan one of the Mad Magazine covers for everyone here: it's the whole cast, with Vader having pulled off his helmet, revealing that Vader is really Mr. T!!

Thats so cool. Basement/Garage archeology can be fun.

Last week I was cleaning out a garage and found a Home and Garden type magazine from the 1920's. It is very interesting to read home ads and articles from those days. Linoleum is advertised as something very cool and modern. The phone numbers for Oakland CA consisted of 3 digits. And homes advertised as "mansions" were available for 4,500 dollars.

TPJ: Yeah, I love old magazine ads too ("the new RCA television with 9" screen, the biggest available!"). I really like old science books as well, esp the ones where they talk about man never making it to the moon. Fun stuff.

Update: found several Star Wars trading cards today, along with two die-cast X-wings (with wings that snap open), and the coolest: a small ISD toy, die-cast top, with plastic bottom, and an opening hangar bay with a removable miniture Blockade Runner in it. The whole ISD is about 4 to 5 inches long, the BR would fit on a penny/small coin. Haven't found the 'droid factory yet though...

haha, also found some KISS trading cards \m/ \m/ and a SPACE:1999 Eagle die-cast toy with detachable cargo hold thingy.

I found a few old LucasArts games the other day. Stuff like Rebel Assault, RAII, TIE Fighter, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, a demo for Dark Forces, and stuff like that.

I love going around through my grandparent's old stuff in their garage and basement. Just the other day I found an old WW2/Korea era US military knapsack. I find old farm equipment (hitches for rigging mules, old ox/mule plow blades, etc.) all the time.

I found a WW2 magazine pouch for .45 pistol ammo. It has a date stamp of 1943. I think my cousin gave it to me when we were kids.

I wish I knew what happened to my Star Wars cards. I had some back when I was a kid.

A while back I found, in my basement, some old newspapers; everything from 2,000,000 RUSSIANS DRIVE ON BERLIN to WAR OVER IN EUROPE to MAN WALKS ON MOON to AIR WAR BEGINS IN KUWAIT

I probably won't see stuff like that. All the crap hoarded en masse in my house is relatively new (And worthless).
