Just talked to my dad.

My Step-brother-to-be, Daniel, died last night from
a heart attack.

I really didn't know him that much - I only met him a few
times in passing - I didn't know him well enough to actually
bond with him, but uhm, this is a fucking shock.

The kid had just graduated from High school, and he had
a college scholarship all lined up.

Damn fucking shame, the entire mess.

This is now the second son that his financee has lost over the years
(the first one died when he was young).

And the worst thing of it all, the wedding was going to be in a few weeks.

Jesus. I don't understand what happens when young people die of heart attacks. My friend Tim died in 2000 of a heart attack at the age of 25. No alcohol abuse, no drug use, no (known) medical conditions--he just had a heart attack and died.

My heart goes out to his whole family. And yours, since in a matter of weeks they'll be an extension of your family, it's your tragedy too.

That is terrible, my sympathies to the mother of those sons.

I've got a friend who was clinically dead for a minute or two because of heart problems.
Damn that's depressing.
Dying right at the end of highschool, I mean life was just about to get GOOD for him.

Sorry to hear that Shep.... it's freaky... you must feel really odd, I mean, you didn't really know the guy or have a deep connectiuon but still... you have a connection of sorts. Enough to feel bad but not enough to feel overly concerned-- a hell of a balance to maintain, and walking on eggshells in the meantime....

If it means anything at all, I really feel for the mom...she must be feeling pretty destroyed right now.

I hope the best for all involved, even on the periphery.
