Medical question...

I used get Charlie Horses all the time on the bottom of my feet. After a while, my feet started to puff up there. It usually doesn't hurt, but its starting to more often, usually when I'm in bed.

I'm going to a doctor to get it checked out, but anyone have any idea what caused it? To prepare for the worst, just in case. I'm not very limber, and I think that left the muscles more easily strained, but I could be wrong.

Try doing what Howedar said. Though you should probably see a doctor or podiatrist. Might be a torn muscle or perhaps fluid swelling

I think you need to see a doctor. Seems like your leg reserves too much water.

If it gets worse you should reach such high level of pain that you won't be able to stand on your legs.

I believe that fluid retention in your feet (I'm assuming its both feet, which sort of rules out an injury) can be a sign of heart problems. Do you also experience shortness of breath, frequent dry cough, or swelling in the abdominal area?

I don't mean to scare you (it could be something else), but you should have it checked out. I'm sure a podiatrist would be aware of these issues, they'd be a good person to start with.

That's wrong. Stretching before exercise is a sure way of getting injuries. You should warm up before serious exercise, but never stretch cold muscles. If you're biking, for example, start riding slowly for ten, twenty minutes before attacking the hills.

Peole must only stretch after the end of the exercise. And there are procedures to follow, stretch in the wrong way and it'll do more bad than good. Don't insist on your muscles, simply get them to a mildly stretched point and keep the position for about 15 seconds.

And yes, always stretch. If you lead an active lifestyle and neglect these kind of procedures, you'll be in a world of pain before reaching forty.

Actually the best thing to do is light CV, stretch, move all your joints, before and after the bulk of the workout.

but yes, cooling down is more important.

Yes, if you're willing to do light CV before stretching and beggining the real exercise. But the vast majority of people just go and stretch cold muscles, thinking they're doing a great thing..
