How do people have fair skin?(my most vain thread ever)

Just how do people always have fair skin? It seems I am the only person with a few zits on my face, yet I wash my face and shower daily, but still, zits.

Just how do people who are teenagers or older have zitless skin? It seems impossible, is it a trick or genes or what?

Don't eat french fries, I'd guess. Or a lot of other fatty stuff. I avoided those for most of my teenage years (not that I like french fries that much anyway) and the most trouble I've had is blackheads and the occasional zit.

It also has to do, if you're a teenager, with the hormones getting screwed up, causing excess skin oil production. It just happens.

Err...fair skin refers to the colour, not the lack of pimples, blemishes, etc. Fair skin is light-coloured skin. Clear skin is, well, clear. Without zits and other stuff.

As for how they get their skin that way, perhaps they wash with special acne-fighting cleansers or use dermatologist treatments or something. Even the popular kids at my school used to have pimples and stuff occasionally.

It's Accutane, like me.

Liver poison, but it'll get a rid of those unsightly things.

Well, I've started to wash my face twice as often, and it has definately made my skin clearer. (Before, I was so disfigured you could mistake me for a Yuuzhan Vong!)

Also, exposure to sunlight and salty air always helps.

I thought sunlight was a bad thing for skin. You mean these last three years of hiding in this room with the curtains closed have been for nothing?

Only if you get too much.

Genetics. My dad nor my mom had acne, and I eat healthy.

Chocolate, that will give you zits.

I thought that the stuff about fatty foods will give you acne was a myth. I never had a problem with zits except for on my chest for some reason. They came along during the 8th grade but were gone by the time high school started except for the zits on my chest (which were very noticable to people near me when I was wearing a jersey) that has yet to completely clear up but isn't really noticable now.

Differin gel is great for suppressing acne growth.

My skin isn't really fair, although it is pretty white. Well, not now, since I have the single worst farmer's tan of all time - my forearm and neck are bronzed as hell.

Diet does not cause acne. Common myth.

I don't get zits. Mainly because I have a slight problem with dry skin. No I don't disintegrate but it is a pain to constantly clean my glasses because of my dry skin.

You're right, diet does not cause acne, since serious acne is a bacterial infection. A bad diet isn't going to make anything better, though, and like I mentioned above, the random hormonal changes that people have in their teenage years have a lot to do with acne.

In my case, swimming, lots of swimming, and the showers that go with them to rinse off the chlorine. The swimming pool water takes care of stuff on my skin that causes acne, and the extra shower I take each day leaves me that much cleaner. Of course that's my pet theory and other than the extra shower I doubt it contributed anything to my clear skin, but hey, it worked!

Actualy bad diet DOES cause zits. I have tracked every single major break out I have had to a time in which I ate a lot of crap food that I shouldn't have. My chest and back get quite a few random zits and my face has a better chance at getting them. If you eat right, break outs almost never occur. To keep the face cleaner, get a nice soap and make sure to wash your face thurougly.

If you sweat a lot without getting sunlight-say, by working in an unairconditioned building all day-it will cause breakouts.

Mild sunburns can cure acne, or at least that has been my experience.

No scientific link has been established between poor eating habits and acne.

Now that IS a myth. Sunburns merely mask the problem by making the rest of your face red; however, they also damage the skin, which only makes the problem worse in the end.

Shaving is absolutely horrible for acne. Not only does it hurt, but it can inflame zits that are already pretty bad to begin with.

Must resist...oh damnit, the answer's obvious, it's because they touch themselves at night! Sorry, couldn't help it. :D

But seriously, I think it's a combination of genetics and taking care of one's skin. I've noticed that when I'm stressed for time and skimp a bit on washing my face I tend to get more zits after a day or 2. I also get more zits in the summer when I sweat a bunch and my skin gets all oily and dirty. And then there's my buddy who's never had a pimple in his entire life. Lucky bastard.

It's all about making an effort to contain the problem, really. Get into a routine of facial care and the problem will be gone or at least mostly suppressed within a few weeks.

Having a mother who is a cosmetologist certainly helps. 8)

Have a very nice day.

I wash my face several times a day, eat well, and have zits out the wazoo, and have for several years. Go figure.
