Who actually LIKES their parents?

Post by Trytostaydead »

I see a lot of posts about people griping about their parents. Who here actually likes, or God forbid, LOVES their parents? I for one do. Me and my mom have always been close and she spoils me rotten (I think she cooks better than most Korean restaraunts do). Me and my dad weren't too close when I was younger, in fact he was very distant. But as I got older he completely changed and has went from the international man of mystery to a very affectionate doting father. I feel lucky.

I do. Of course, my Dad firmly believes that the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is out to destroy the country and, if possible, much of the world, but I live with it. :)

I'm very lucky to have the parents I do, and am constantly aware of it.

I love them with every fiber of my being, always have.

Mine are all right, though relations have been steadily declining.

I gripe a lot. But I'm a teenager, it's bound to happen. I like my parents and whenever some of my friends here me say that they go "Oh my God, are these the same parent's we're talking about?" That's usually followed by me saying "Go to hell."

I love both my parents, I just don't co-habitate very well with them.

I have good parents, but they've been getting up my ass lately. I think I've reached the point where it's time to move out. Family is best experience in small doses in controlled settings.

Oh and Hemlock, about the VRWC, please pass this message along to your dad: "You're right. When our evil plans come to fruition, the world will tremble in our very fingers. And there's NOTHING you can do about it! Bwahahahahaha! Write me a letter of recomendation that will get me into U Penn, and MAYBE we won't send you to the salt mines."*

*Don't actually say that to him. I actually plan to ask him for a letter of recomendation in the fall.

Meh, I have always loved my parents. When I lived with them (many moons ago) I occasionally disliked them, but that had little to do with if I loved them.

Now that I do not live with them, a condition that has exisisted for well over a decade, not only do I always love them, but I like them all the time.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Is your name Oeddy by any chance?

I have a good relationship with both my parents, they both are smart and well informed most of the time.

I love my parents, and I think they did the best they could for me most of the time. They have their faults, but they generally mean well. My dad calls me his "Hannibal Lecter", so I just keep telling myself its a compliment and he means well :) I'm not super close to them however.
Of course I'm sure this is all REALLLLY fascinating to you all, but I felt like sharing...

I love my parents. They both rock. Seriously. We had our issues when I was in high school, but now they are both very good friends of mine. It's cool.

I get along great with my mom. We hang out.

I get along ok with my dad, even though we have almost nothing in common anymore. He was a very hard-liner dad when I was young, but we get along pretty ok now though, all things considered.

I love my parents.

I had the best childhood a boy can get and I only hope I can give the same for my "future" children.

There were several oppositions of course when I was between 18 and 22 but everything was solved when I moved away.
