With new legislation in California after signing up Telemarketers aren't supposed to phone you..

I just got a phone call and I said, "Hey, I thought I signed up for the do not call list.."

The telemarketer just laughed at me and said "Signed up where? Hahaha"

I thought that didn't go into effect until October?

Anyways, they're just minimum wage illiterate assholes that just don't give a shit. Did you atleast get their number on caller ID, or was it "out of area"? If you did get a number, check to see if its valid by looking it up on reverse phone directory. If its valid, use it to buy porn. Thats what I do.

I do that occasionally. Sometimes I'll act like I'm really deathly ill....and then I'll hang up. If by chance EMS shows up, I'll act like I don't know wtf is going on. Then the call center will get fined for wasting the EMS' time. (I only do that on extremely rare occasions simply because the EMS might actually be needed elsewhere.)

Most of the time, whenever they say something, I'll ask them to speak up.....and continue to do so everytime they say something. Occasionally, I'll interrupt them just to add a touch of realism, and to annoy them further. (hey, the phone companies bill by the minute so why not? You'll be billed for that first minute anyways, even if you hang up on the cumstain, so why not put it to good use? )

Is there a California do not call list? Or are you refering to the federal one?

They can call you if you do business with them. Politicians and charities are exempt too. Anyway, I just never pick up now if it says "out of area". Only once has that been someone other than a telemarketer.

If I do happen to pick up the phone I usually hang up when I detect the pause of the phone equipment matching the call to the agent.

"Good day sir, I'm calling from _____, and we have a new..."

"First, I would just like to get to know you....I want to ask you a bunch of questions, and I want them answered immediately....Who is your daddy, and what does he do..?"

But they are so much fun to play with(and for some of them complain loudly of their poor service in the past)

Seriously I have great fun with telemarketers.

When ever I answer the phone I always say "Hello, Joes Gourmet Ass Meats, is this a pick up or delivery" most people who don't know me hang up after that, it's a great way to screen your calls!
