Im listening to Pachabel's Canon in D, and I can't help but to feel a sense of admiration and pride at everything that human beings have accomplished. We started out as barely sentient animals who knew nothing of the world and how it operated; from that we've developed math, the sciences, the arts, industry, philosophy...... everything. We've gone from cowering in fear of lightning and thunder to visiting the moon and photographing the stars. Ultimately, this got me thinking, what are the greatest works that the human mind has ever produced.... if humanity were to go extinct what would you want other sentient life to remember us by? Pick three things and say why you picked them.
Personally, I would pick The Declaration of Independence, The Ode to Joy (or Canon in D), and David. I personally t hink that these three things display the greatness of humanity at its best in terms of its poltics, artistic skill, and its spirit.

I would pick... Ode to Joy.... The Origin of species... and the the German/US constitution...
Pinacle of art... A difinitive work in science... and a political system to be proud of.

Three things that equally shows our darker side, our lighter side, and something that shows off our intellect or sense of universal curiosity.
1:A history of warfare in human history. Plus a primer on English.
2:Sistine Chapel Ceiling. Our yearning to seek truth, or our desire to connect to something higher than us.
3:A map showing the transjectory of Voyager II. At least I think that's the one I'm talking about. When they find it they'll have more information on us from what's stored in its innards.
If possible I'd like to add a fourth slot: animalistic behavior to show while how far we've come, we've stayed put as well. A video recording of heavy metal concert fans moshing and screaming. Or possibly A Clockwork Orange.

I didn't want to include any works of technology, as there's really only one way gears and clocks can work if you catch my drift.*
I feel that my choices would reflect our philosophical and intellectual curiosity.
*If you don't, that means that the aliens would have invented shit like we have already, and would not be impressed. Works of art and history are one-of-a-kind.

I'd pick....
*A complete illustrated history of the human race. They might not be able to decipher the English language, but they can look at the pictures.
*Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.
*A comprehensive medical textbook.
