Ok, I am writing this because I am drunk. Anyway, how many you go to parties and get drunk occasionally? I just came from my friend's house and had a fun time. How many of you out there enjoy the fine drinks? What do you think about it?

I rather don't like alcohol, it tastes horrid.

I'm very much the social drinker in the old sense. I usually only attend those more high-classed parties where we drink red wine with our prime ribs, lol.

Actually, I very much enjoy a cool refreshing glass of gin and tonic.. blue bombay!

Getting drunk for the sake of getting drunk never appealed to me, but I'm a social drinker in the sense that I won't say no to a drink or two in good company. Of course, there have been times when I've gotten quite totally drunk nonetheless. It used to be rather more often some eight years ago, but very rarely these days, and I've been fortunate enough not to have embarrassed myself in public while drunk.

But being drunk is not any fun. I can have just as much or much more fun sober or with just a couple of drinks under the belt than totally hosed, and hangovers are never nice.

I'm not of legal age to drink alcohol. That said: Fuck alcohol. I don't need to poison myself to have a good time. I have it hard enough living with a drunk (my father), let alone being one and risk getting hooked on that crap.

That's a very good attitude! I suggest you do your best to keep it!

Drinking to me though isn't about "having a good time" in of itself in regards to the drink. I drink on social occasions usually when a) It brings out the flavor or what I'm eating or b) as a relaxant.

When you come out of a tiring day when your brain has been smashed and your body aches, nothing beats having one drink to help relax and engage in normal conversation.

Well, I like drinking occasionally, but I usually do not drink just to get drunk*. It's just I like the taste of good wine, especially Italian red wine. To me , it's unthinkable to be eating meat without a glass of wine.


[*] Ok, sometimes I do get drunk, but that's not the purpose. Besides, you taste the wine better when you're not sliding under the table.

I still have a year to go before I can legally drink the stuff, but I haven't had an alcoholic beverage ever and probably won't when I turn 21. Let's face it; I haven't had a drink yet, just about all college kids who want to have, so there's no point in starting when I reach the magic age when I've stayed away from the stuff for so long.

You might learn to like wine as an adult. Maybe not. I have'nt much to my fathers dismay. But oddly enough as soon as I turned 21 I drank less than I did before. Partially cause its too expensive, partially cause Ive never liked all that much, and mainly cause Im not big on drinking to get drunk.

Ive done it a few times and had fun, but it has not happened in at least 8 years. I forsee it ever happening again. I will have a single drink now and then , especially when on vacation. It is mainly to relax and enjoy my time off. Its always some sort of mixed drink with lots of ice or juice.

I don't like to get drunk. I much prefer to get stoned...
