I wonder why pepole fear it so.
I guess it's mostly because they are worried about the friends and family that they are leaving behind.
What do you all think about it?

That is what atheist think. The majority of the people in thw world are believer and they believe that the human soul will go to a higher place. Anyway though I believe that is what going to happen I do not like the idea much. I would have been happier if reincarnation was true.

You'll have to wait until the government allows you to be frozen before you die, because currently it's only legal as long as you're already dead, since it's considered a form of burial.
That and getting past the "freezer burn" problem...

That's a good point but one should think of this, you may be gone from this mortal plane but you still live on in the hearts and minds of your family and friends and if you had any rug rats while you where alive then part of you lives on in them.

It's still not good enough as actually being alive myself, which is all I really care about.
That's why I'm planing on never dying in the first place.
Total cyborg body, baby!!

exactly. I want to live forever, not for myself, but to see humanity expand.
robot body, immortality serum, brain in a case, clone bodies. . . we'll think of something.

Too bad there's a shortage of organs and those replacement ones from Bicentennial Man weren't invented yet or one could go get an overhaul in their 50s or so.

I think people are scared of death because no one knows for sure what happens. Do you get to go to Heaven, or are you sent to Hell? Will you be reincarnated, or is there nothing? Or maybe your soul will get trapped, and you're forced to walk the earth as a tormented ghost for all eternity. There’s only one way to find out for sure, and I sure as hell ain't in any hurry to find out.

True but my expreances with death, been there and back a few times leads me to belive that what lays ahead after you die is based on what your mind belives that happens to you when you die, if you think you will go to hell then you will go to hell.
You see my point?

Cryogenics is just cheating, since you still will live just as long.
Nevermind the fact that bunch of psuedoscience is bunk, anyway...

Thinking of death depresses me. I do not do it often, but watching X the other night reinvigorated that depression in me.

Even if it does become possible to restore frozen people, what makes you think future generations will have any inclination to do so? Why would they want another mouth to feed? If they do revive you, it will probably be only because of labor shortages, so you will just end up a slave.
And it seems to me that for the majority of people, no matter how strong their religious convictions, there is always a nagging fear that maybe there is no life after death, that when we die we suffer a true, final, absolute death. That's what is so frightening. That and the natural instinctive fear of death that is programmed into us.

Corporations dont work that way. You'll be dutifully revived since that is what you have paid for.

I know I am doomed so I shall either go the "Donate to Science", or Big Irish Wake followed by Burning in a boat.

That's summed up my feelings on death.

I'm absolutely not ready to die right now. Haven't lived enough yet.

That's pretty much how I feel. I wonder if I will feel the same when I am older.
