Weirdest movie you ever saw

Post by Peregrin Toker »

Well, there are "Favourite Bad Movie" and "Worst Movie You Saw" polls - so why not a weirdest movie poll???

The weirdest movie I've seen yet gotta be "The Idiots", for following reasons:

1. The scene where a man urinates on a municipality worker's car, then rips off his clothes and pursues the municipality worker while yelling random insults at him.

2. The film's message: that insane people are the "truly sane."

3. It was deliberately weird.

4. Lars von Trier directed it.

However, I've heard of much more bizarre movies - such as Legend Of The Overfiend(in one scene, a demon uses its genitals to destroy buildings), Cannibal: The Musical (well, the name says it all) and a 44-year old christmas film where Santa Claus - aided by Merlin the Wizard and Vulcan, God of The Forge - and The Devil fight over the fate of Mexico.(too bad no pro-wrestlers made cameos)

What are the The Weirdest Movies you've seen??

Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run) was rather surreal, but my oppinion of the movie might have been effected by the fact that the movie had no subtitles (my German sucks monkeyballs) and by the fact that I was quite drunk when I watched it.

My Ass Is Bleeding. A whopping four minutes about a poor bastard who went from jogging peacefully to oozing blood from his ass and frantically looking for help. Great stuff.

Hrm...There's one really weird one I saw once but I can't remember the name nor what it was about. All I remember thinking was "wow, this is weird."

Then there was Perfect Blue. Talk about mindfuck.

I remember that. Absolutely hilarious. Especially the part where the gorilla (Chewie) kills all the children! I'm laughing my ass off just thinking about it.

Some of the late night stuff on amateur film stuff is weird.

I saw a guy with his dick FORKED into 2, and then pierced. But I saw that right before I saw Little Red Riding Hood with Christina Ricci, so it wasn't all bad.

Mullholland Drive
Donnie Darko

Both of which left me with a WTF? feeling, and I'm not sure why everybody raves so much about the latter.

Plus, I share Anya's bunny fear (I grew up with Watership Down and used to live with the inspiration for Monty Python and the Holy Grail) - therefore it was extra freaky.

You mean "Dunyayi Kurtaran Adam"???

(I've located a review of it)

It is indeed a weird movie - I mean, come on - lots of stock footage and stolen footage from better known movies, special effects worthy of a Pat Buchanan production, kung-fu action, The Devil, cookie monsters, trampolines and disco music???

Run Lola Run was the shit! However as I have yet to see Donnie Darko (which I am hearing wonderful things about), the prize has to go to Momento.

"18" (Thessaloniki Film Festival, 1993)

It was just......wierd. Incomprehensial dialogues/scenes spanding from sex, gambling to ethnicity, and then the leading character dies.

Totally couldn't get it. Read the reviews praising it on the newspapers...still couldn't get it.

Twin Peaks... Never seen the movie, but I read a book once, "The Diary of Laura Palmer", i think it was called, with the label Twin Peaks Book. It was a fictional girl's diary, telling how she was molested by something named BOB and how she turned into a crack-addicted slut, pretty much. I've been trying to find a movie or TV series or SOMETHING that this is related to (it says it's related to something, but doesn't say WHAT). Does this sound related to the "Twin Peaks" movie?

So much for getting through this thread without anyone mentioning Eraserhead...Don't miss the first 10 minutes, you'll never get it! :D

Oh, and The Wall?
Freaked you out?
Sissies.

Always wanted to see Dali's Un Chien Andalou, found a video compilation of interviews and such with him, and the one staged piece with him and Gala busting out of giant eggs on the beach and scatttering "symbolic blood" while holding dead fish was pure entertainment!

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is bizarre in the extreme, especially considering it dates from 1919.

Twin Peaks was David Lynch's foray into the television genre.

The book you read is indeed, based on the series.

First season of Twin Peaks was great.
Second, not so much.
The movie got a big WTF from me....
