You go blind now

Whether it be from laser pointers or excessive masturbation, some people lose their ability to see stuff. How would it affect your life? What if it happened to you, or you, or you?

I can't imagine myself handling blindness. No TV, no movies, no books, no porn. Sure, those things come in audio form, but just wouldn't be the same.

I have very bad vision without glasses, so I pretty much know what it's like to be blind. it's pretty awful.

Who said that?[/badjoke]

Well, it'd suck. I'd probably commit suicide. If i can't draw i'd feel unfulfilled and being unable to play computer games etc would just be soul crushing.

If I cannot see a beautiful lady *preferably future Wifey* anymore then I'll sincerely commit suicide if not told to live on. I won't live a world where I cannot see another bright and dandy face again.~Jason

Not being able to see would be the worst thing to happen to a person aside from having your balls cut off.

Blindness is a potential that comes with diabetes, it scares the stinky dung out of me.

Living blind would not be life to me.

I agree. The only thing left in life would be music. That's why blindness is the second most frightening thing to me, just behind death. I'm lucky to have good eyesight.

It would suck to go blind but it would be even worse to go deaf for me. I love music and if i wouldn't be able to listen to it i would be a very depressed

No way in hell I'd stick around if I went blind. Too much stuff to see out there to lose your sight. I can't help but wonder though: Born blind, all your life all you'll ever 'see' is cold, dark oblivion. Man, that's depressing. :(

I'd have to bring a seeing eye dog up with me to the cockpit next time I go flying.

Out of all the senses I wouldn't want to lose, sight would be on top. I probably wouldn't be able to do stuff I like, such as watching TV, reading, playing video games, et cetera, but on the plus side, I can't see how ugly a woman is, so I don't care whether they look good or not. It's like I increased my options fivefold. If I went blind, I'd try to use my other 4 senses to find my way around things. It might take longer to do things, but I'd try to live with it. There's just might be some hope.

Obviously it would be horrible and shattering to go blind, but it's my personal opinion that those of you that think life wouldn't be worth living at that point are lacking some amount of imagination. Sure, you might not be able to play some modern video games, but I could likely content myself with voice software and every game that Infocom ever made. When I read a novel there aren't illustrations included, but that doesn't mean I can't "see" what's going on. For myself, I would rather go deaf than blind, but at least if I was blind I could still listen to music and hear my friends and family speaking to me. I wouldn't be able to draw anymore if I were blind, I'm pretty sure, but at that point I would probably take up sculpting and writing. Also, should I ever decide I wanted a boyfriend or husband, I would be free to choose the person that had the best personality traits without the restrictions of physical appearance.

It would be terrible to go blind, yes, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. In fact, I have already considered this quite extensively as I may have to take medication soon that can cause permenant blindness.

I'd rather be dead than not be able to see films, programmes, photos (as well as take them), and other works of visual art.

Same goes for being deaf...

I stick around and hope that science advances quickly enough to have me regain at least some vision.

Well, i'm not deaf.. But i probably will be at an older age. (sulks about snails-pace research on stem-cell technology) I BARELY passed the MEPS physical because of my hearing. But.. I got the MOS i wanted, so i guess i'm good. :)
