I just got finish with the first XC work-out today and I was just wonderin' how many of you run? If you do, do you run for high school, age group, or just for fun? Sorry if it has been asked before.

I run because the Army makes me.

Did a whole bunch of distance running as part of my swim workouts up until I finished university and stopped swimming competitively. I still run every so often since it's fun and helps keep me in shape.

Too hard on the knee joints for me...I'd rather cycle or walk instead.

I've tried it, but usually give up after a few minutes.
BTW, your name reminds me of that one movie about the retard that ran a lot.

ROLF I didn't even notice. That retard saved my name sake. With out him there would be no Lt. Dan. I would have to use a different name for all my games and this place. Thank you runnin' retard!

*sigh* Curse this 1.5 miles in 11 minutes...
I'm a Swabbie, not a Marine!

You could always go for a swim instead. I never knew anyone who took that option and from what I hear the time is a lot tougher to meet than the run is.

Who's Navy?
![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
The US Navy. They have the biggest, baddest ships after all. And the uniforms look decent.
BTW, while I normally loathe Air Force uniforms on general principle, I must admit...the T-X made the blues look damn good.

Shit. Maybe I should have looked at your avatar.

But still, one and a half miles in 11 minutes...I know people who can can run two and a half miles in that time. I might get two done in that time. Hmmmm...I don't know. But still it's better then the air forces. One of my brother-in-laws said that they have to ride a bike in something like the navys qualifications.

Better get cracking, 1.5 miles in 11 is a pretty good pace that you're gonna have to work up to. Waiting till they foist it on you is gonna result in a lot of unneeded muscle pain, start working out now and you'll have an easy time of it.
As for running, I did a lot of XC running in highschool, but nowadays the only time I run is with my GF, nothing else motivates me enough to get off my ass to run these days.

11 minutes for 1.5mi isn't
that fast, anybody in decent shape should be able to manage it.
The poll lacks the "both" option.
Mr. Dan, you just started training
now? My team has been working since school got out! I've been doing 45mi a week while you've been sitting on your hind end.
You're lucky you live elsewhere

I don't run as I'm not interested in causing Long Island's first major earthquake.

I recently ran 5k through Hampstead Heath to raise money for cancer research, but usually cross country if something that should be done on horseback.

I run because the Army makes me.
I run because the Navy makes me
But at least I get 13 mins to do it in(That mile and a half anyway)
I can easily push out ninty push-ups followed by 100+ pushups but making that run under time always kills me

In high school, I ran cross country and track every year. They're beautiful sports, and I love 'em to death.

ninety push-ups! I can do thirty in a row, max, before my muscles refuse to work anymore. *humble look*

He-heh......one thing I liked about the Navy. Unless you were part of the "fatboy club" PT twice a year and that was it
Serving on a sub I only had to run about 150ft in any direction (mostly for "trim parties" to bust the new "BCP" operator)
That 1.5 mile run was excessive IMO
