Whoooo... I'm guessing I should point out what this rant is about.
Its Sarah's birthday today, and though I had gotten her a small present already i was intending on grabbing another today as well as taking her out to a restaurant she's been wanting to go to for a year or more.
So, this morning I get up, I swing past the restaurant when they open and make reservations and start looking for a second present.
When I do (I decided upon a nice satchel for her - she's been saying she needs a new bag), I go to an ATM to get the cash for that and dinner. Only to find...
NADA! Zip. Zilch.
MY STUPID FUCKING BOSSES AT WORK FOR THE FOURTH WEEK IN A FUCKING ROW HAVE "FORGOTTEN" TO PUT MY FUCKING PAY IN ON TIME!
Now I don't even have enough fucking money to get a card or wrapping paper for the first fucking present - I've had to cancel the reservations for dinner and - wouldn't you know it - I can't find SQUAT FUCKING DIDDLY in the home fridge/freezer to make instead.
So, yet again I have to disappoint Sarah by being unable to do/get anything special for her...
I am in a real fucking bad mood right about now.

Don't you have an agreement with work whereby they advance you cash in hand if the bank transfer is somewhat delayed?

Idiot managers are everywhere. I have two that I have to deal with on a regular basis. They should have been taken out with the trash...
Anyway for you to 'conveniently' remind them...?

Do you have a credit card for such an emergency?

If she loves you she'll understand, seriously. Women an be surprisngly understanding particualrly when they see that you really tried. For women its all about the effort rather than the actual gift. Take her somewhere nice to see the night sky or spend a day at the beach and explain to her the situation.

Could be worse, your former best friend could convince your fiance that you cheated on her for no reason. Your fiance could cease speaking to you like a choke off... only to return to town a couple months later to show you how much happier she acts to me with her new guy.....

Nope. Though I am sorely tempted, but the simple fact is the only card I'd be able to get is a shitty one with the worlds biggest fucking interest rate.
HemlockGrey wrote:If your employers routinely forget to pay you, why the hell are you still working for them?
They just put the pay in late, they don't forget, but its meant to go in on Monday so I have it by Tuesday (damn inter-bank shit) but they keep forgetting to put it in until Tuesday morning, this has only really started recently though.

Well, shit... That hurts.

Yeah, I could, but it seems that this kinda shit is ALWAYS happening, and I know that she's if not getting tired of it, she doesn't like always being disappointed. The taking her out somewhere nice is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that, but again - its blowing a fucking gale outside and looks like raining. But I might as well fucking well do something.
Thanks for your support all.

In my experience all you have to really do is remember the special day first to show you care, then you have a short window of opportunity, say 2-3 extra days to deliver on the gift/special evening. As long as she knows she's getting the goodies she wont be pissed.

Only a moron carries a balance on a credit card from month to month. Pay it off every month, and don't use it unless you have to (hence "emergency"). Get a card with no annual fees or shit.
Problem solved.

you still have a god timerame then, women are surprisingly fexible as long as they are certain to get the gift. they are an inherently greedy gender.

Y'know, if it was my birthday, I'd shout dinner and forgive you the present.
But that's only cause I'm a pushover.

Sarah: It's my birthday, Colin could you fix my Email again....
Me: Sure
Me two hours later.... why is it she never updates her virus protection, or figures out not to open blatant trouble messages....

Did you know that your employer "forgetting" to pay you is illegal (assuming your living in the US). Since this a regular thing, you might want to start talking to some folks - I bet the police or the better business bureau could point you in the right direction. But if the higher ups in your company aren't buddy-buddy with your boss, you might want to talk to them first (assuming you haven't, already).

Because that's what helpful men are for.
