Who here has a particular song that they remember fondly from their childhood. Myself, I will always love House at Pooh Corner and Sweet Baby James because my mother used to sing them to me as a kid. :)

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

The Old Lady Who Swallowed the Fly

I'm a Little Teapot

Little White Duck -- my parents hated this song because when I was 4 years old we drove to Florida for vacation. I had a Close-N-Play record player and I played Little White Duck a few too many times. My Dad still brings it up every now and then and it's been 30 years.

In Grade School:

Sneaky Snake by Roger Miller

Octopus' Garden by The Beatles

Iowa Fight Song have to start the brainwashing early, especailly when the team royally sucked hard core.

Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath mostly.

Throw in some KISS and Motörhead for a nice mix.

And take a wild guess at my age :D

For me, it's:

Billy Joel's Uptown Girl.....this song always reminds me of Christmas time for some reason.....probably due to the fact that's around when I first heard it back in '84 or so.

I used to watch alot of MTV back when I was a kid. Another song that I still like is Madness' Our House.

Oh, and anything from Men At Work and Huey Lewis and the News. Good times!

In the Hall of the Mountain King, from PeerGynt

My Dad loved this song. He'd play it so loud it would rock the trailer on the foundation. You could hear it five houses down!

Then, one day, my little brother found a tape where some heavy metal band (ManOWar?) did a guitar & bass cover.

That was the first time I'd ever seen Dad actually enjoy listening to Dean's "Screaming Long-haired Idjits" music. (Dad didn't like HeavyMetal... )

Let's see. I grew up with rock and alternative on the radio and it would take me a while to put all of them down. . .

The theme to "Duck Tales."

Once in sixth grade the entire cafeteria burst out into singing the song.

[shudders]

Though, I am seeing a lot of the songs I would have rather FORGOTTEN.. though there was a lot of Fleetwood Mac (Go Your Own Way and Rhiannon especially) and some Paul Simon (Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes). The Cranberries. Santana. The Beatles, too. [stabs The Yellow Submarine]
