Where would you move to?

Post by Sir Sirius »

There was some mention of this in the "Cultures - Are they better?" thread in SLaM, so I decided to make thread dedicated to it.

If you absolutely had to (for some reason) choose a nation on Earth to live in other then your native country which nation would you choose and why?

You will be granted the nationality of the country you choose to move in automatically.

I'd move to Sweden. I already speak the language (not all that well, but in any case) and Sweden and Finland are lot a like in many ways (similar cultures, climate Etc.).

Canada. At least we speak the same language. But for fucks sake, do I have to live with the shame of coming from a place where they put milk in bags? Goddamn bags!

Nowhere. I'm happy to live and die in Belfast. If i really had to chose i'd pick Dublin. I've lived in Dublin before, for a few months, and while it wasn't Belfast it was a fun place with lots of nice people about it. Dublin is a lot happier place now that the catholic church is losing it's grip with the people.

Where the games come. Japan.
In my talons, I shape clay, crafting life forms as I please. If I wish, I can smash it all. Around me is a burgeoning empire of steel. From my throne room, lines of power careen into the skies of Earth. My whims will become lightning bolts that raze the mounds of humanity. Out of chaos, they will run and whimper, praying for me to end their tedious anarchy. I am drunk with this vision. God: the title suits me well.

If I am taught a new language and there was a job waiting for me then I'd go to Japan. If not, I'd go to the U.S.

Sweden. Learning the language would be quite easy (I already speak Danish) and taxes are somewhat lower but their social welfare system isn't significantly worse.

And a new car costs only ~60% in Sweden of what it does in Denmark!

The federal Republic of Germany. I speak the language, and it is a nice secular country, with more civil liberties than the US, and a christian population of less than 3 million...

I'd probably go to Canada, it seems like just a nicer version of the US.

Mexico. The weather's good, and if I am followed by several others, they can know what it's like to have their country flooded with a bunch of people that don't speak the native language.

I rather enjoy living in the elitist, avaricious, bloodthirsty, imperialistic, fundamentalist, culturally inferior hegemon, but if I was forced to choose I would probably go Thailand, Hong Kong, or Japan. My dad spent a lot of time in the Far East during his tenure in the service and considers it the best time of his life. I don't know if I'd be able to eke out a living, though.
