Does anyone know of well written and informative books on the Late Qing Dynasty down to... shoot initial colonization of the area (though that is not necessary)?

What do you define as initial colonization? The concessions after the First Opium War? The second? Or the Boxer Rebellion? China was never actually turned into a colony (though some of its protectorates were of course). Manchus were 1644-1912; have a specific time period therein?

By Initial Colonization I ment the first Hominids into the area.

Though it is not necessary for it to get that deep.
