Mold...

Earlier today, people were in the house to remove mold, and it was noisy, and cost a lot of money. What I'm wondering is that whether mold an actual threat, or another scare tactic to make homeowners spend more.

mold bad for health. plus nasty and hurts property value IIRC

Really bad mold can require the house to be burned down.
Really bad mold can also kill people, with plenty of painful symptoms beforehand.
