HOORAY!!! the SPD and the Grüne have won the elections in germany.
translation: the two parties who are similar to the democrats in the states have won. it was damn close though.

I heard that the leader of the other party, the CDU ( the christian democrate something or other, sorry I can't remember!) declared victory first even thought all the votes had not been counted yet.

Snide comment: because most of the rest of the world has more sense than to trust rightwingnuts for good government.
Serious answer: the right does win elections from time to time. Just look at the exploits of Austria's Freedom party or Lekud in Israel. Or any of the rightwing dictatorships brought to power by the CIA throughout Africa and South America.

Sometimes, the Right is represented by bad candidates, like in Canada, when Prime Minister Kim Campbell turned the Progressive Conservative Party into CRAP (literally)
. Or in some places, the people are just more liberal.
