Any gay jokes and I'll keelhaul you.

Anyway, it's sorta. Tomorrow (or today, depending on how long it takes to type...anyway, it's Monday) at 0900 I'll go in for a briefing type of session with the USF NROTC Battalion, prior to going on our Orientation trip. When that's done (I may or may not have my basic uniforms issued), I'll be leaving 0600 Tuesday to go to Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville. There, we will partake in learning what there is to learn about naval aviation. Then we'll go to Mayport to do the same for surface warfare and from there Kings Bay (in Georgia) to visit the silent service (though it may not be in that order). I will also get to have fun and partake in my very first PFT (though passing is not critical at this point in time). Then, next Saturday, 23 August, at around 1200, the swearing in ceremony will commence, and I'll be sworn in as a Midshipman in the Naval Reserve (if that ID card application is to be believed), finally, officially.

So, wish me the best of (good) luck, and keep me informed on the goings on of next week! Next time I show up here (I doubt I'll be on Monday, but I might) you'll be talking to a Midshipman who will, if all goes as planned, be an Ensign in the USNR in four years, and eventually in the Regular Navy afterwards.

That's the general idea behind it (at least as explained to me), but I have no idea how you would actually carry it out.

In the old sail navy days it was a severe form of discipline. You'd tie the guy to a rope and drag him under the ship along the keel. Because there were usually a lot of marine growths and so he'd be cut up badly as the ship ran him down.

Besides, I should point out the Sailor with the Village People was an enlisted sailor to judge by the uniform. I'm not, and my uniform resembled that of a naval officer.

So it doesn't really apply to me. Go make fun of Tsyroc, Lonestar, and Mr Bean. They have the sailor suits.

Air Force is better.

Now, don't forget the Fire scrolls in case you go north, oh and here's a couple Muddle scrolls so that your enemies fire at each other as much as at you. In the Navy, you can fuck your buddies butt. In the Navy,......Well you get the point. And I'm not worried about being Keelhualed by you. You're going to be a zero not a CPO so nobody will tie the knots for you and you won't be able to do it, so I just swim away......

That is where they throw you overboard and drag you behind the ship or in front of the ship if your a stickler for detail, but since on any vessel that's not wind powered a true keel hauling is murder we won't consider it.

Btw, originally keel-hauling was a method of removing crewmembers who had done some seriously bad shit on the ship. Usually comprised of said miscreant having a heavy rope tied around him and pitched over the bow of the ship, the ship would then run him over and at some point the impacts from bounching down the keel, the rudders, or the screws (depending on era) would kill him. It was not unlike walking the plank, you were not meant to live thru it. (and yes, the barnacles would no doubt hurt like a bitch with the salt water before you died)

How do you want to avoid gay jokes,with all the stories about a bunch of men on a ship for months without women,its just like jail they needed to fuck something.
