The Making of A Message Board

Part I: Making of the board

Ok, I'm clueless as to how to work PHP. Moreover, only PHP paysites can work on a PHP message board and I'm flat broke. Already asked Wong for suitable replacements.

Part II: Find Moderators

When around my high school asking for people to become moderators. Most common reaction: "What the hell's a moderator?!?!"

I'm gonna need luck...a hell of a lot of it :P

You might not succeed. After getting moderators, you would need to get people to come. I say you make it "a division of SD.net". Still, there's a chance, and I hope you pull it off.

MAKE ME A MODERATOR. Or else...

Anyway, good luck and I promise that unless you tick me off in some way I will keep my polls in your forum down to a minimum.

Well, thanks for the replies...I think :P

The format and content was actually going to be similar to SD.net (there's even going to be SLM and Fanfic forums, as well as OT, Politics, and School forums)

I was going to give some moderators to SD.net guys, at least at first, maybe even train newbie mods.

I'd love for it to be a branch of SD.net, but that would be unfair and intrusive to Mike Wong, and I really really really do not need the 15 girls I obsess over seeing either 1.) the fact that I DO obsess over them 2.) or worse, my perverted tendencies.

well, here's the plan:

Mike Wong's title: GOD (It will piss the hell out of the Roman Catholic fundies but oh well...)

Ray the Benevolent (Me :) ): Head Honcho, Belevolent Leader, Big Brother, just to name a few possibilities :D

I'll give custom titles to whoever wants them, regardless of mod status...

...and even a few custom titles if necessary (So Arminiass doesn't think he can be a Racist Donkey-Fucking Son of a Whore for two message boards in a row, eh? )

BTW if no one ever comes I'll just turn it into that "true" OT message board for SD.net that I was talking about...the one where everyone gets mod status :D

Your board is DOOOOOMMMMMEEEEDDD

Seriously, unless you have some sort of attached hook, your board is quite likely to die stillborn. Most do.

Seems like you're the old kid on the block here now. We're thinking (and by we I mean I) of doing something similar for our school . . . and by similar I mean guestbook. Any tips?
