Question for Mike about his sig. . .

First off: WHOO-HOO! I'm finally posting on SD.net!
*throws confetti while dancing in circles*
Ahem. Anyway -- Mike, I've been curious about the spelling of the word 'rigid' in your UW Engineering motto sig line. Why does it have a 'd' in it?
Given your impeccable use of spelling and grammer, I'm assuming this isn't a typo, as it never would have lasted as long as it has. So is it a Canadian variant spelling (like the British 'colour'), or does it have some secret engineer meaning or something?
Oh, and I'd like to compliment whoever set it up so that SD.net
itself hosts people's personal pics - so much easier than EZboard!

I think "ridgid" is like thee-speak - archaic English that fits well with the phrase.

Well, I do make the occasional typo, especially when I'm in a hurry, but this is no typo. The RIDGID tool company is a manufacturer of heavy-duty tooling (see their
website). They also manufactured the giant 8 foot long wrench that the UW engineering guys use as our mascot for official functions. A bunch of guys dress up like Gregorian monks and parade the Tool around so that others may worship its hardness and length.

It's a fairly simple option; most people lack the ability to host pictures.

I guess that MIT's popular hack
"The Church of Our Lady of the All-Night Tool" has spread to other universities.

You mean the crew here ISN'T going to greet a newbie by bombarding him with 16 pages of anime titty pictures containing the word "poke" and then flaming him off the boards? How... novel.

While we're on the topic of sigs, what the heck is the Heavy Armor Brigade?

That's classified information, you don't have the proper security clearance yet to know

A usergroup which will swallow you up, crush you and spit you out like shrapnel through the turbofans's on our A-10's. All other data is indeed classified.

This would make an excellent out of context quote.

Please, curb your enthusiasm.
You'll thank me when the other shoe drops (in whatever way, shape or form it may be). Nothing good ever came from being too happy; it just sets you up for a really nasty fall later on.
Yeah, I know I'm being a real downer.
(You know, we really need a sarcasm function on these things)
