The Next Fletch

Seems that Kevin Smith and Jason Lee are both cooling on the idea to have Lee star as Fletch in a new movie. Unfortunate, as I think lee would be a great Fletch. But look at the "wish ist" Smith has of actors to portray Fletch:

Ben Affleck: No way. Affleck is a capable actor, but he seems to want to blurt out his next line like a belch. Fletch's humor is much more ironic and subdued.

(BTW, we're talking about the Fletch in the novels here, not Chevy Chase's take on the character. Smith has ssaid he wants to remain true to the novel Fletch)

Brad Pitt: I know what Smith is going for here. Pitt's acting in "12 Monkeys" was great, but he's no Fletch. Fletch isn't a male model.

Will Smith: What the FUCK is Smith thinking? We do NOT need a hip-hop Fletch. Fuck that.

Adam Sandler: I fucking hate Adam Sandler.

Who do you think would be a good Fletch? Remember, "Fletch Won" takes place at the beginning of Fletch's newspaper reporter career, so he can't be too old. So forget about Tim Allen!

My picks:

Norm MacDonald: This bastard is funny. He'd be a great Fletch. He's goofy, and at the same time, he's interesting, but he just might be too old for the part.

John Cusak: I think he'd be a perfect choice. Watch "Better Off Dead"

Will Farrell: Farrell is funny; I think h can pull it off.

Any more?

If we can't have Jason Lee I'd like to see Norm McDonald. He's definitely got the Chevy Chase air around him.
