Today in Sociology class we watched a video about the Masaai, a tribe in Africa. We had to write down notes about their customs and rituals.

Most of their rituals appeared to be based around circumcision, including on women. Me and my friends were wondering, why the hell would they do that? Any health reasons, that western civilization may not experience? I got the impression from the video that it was just because they consider it a sign of fertility, which seems ironic to me. I'm also sorta morbidly wondering how a women would be circumcised? I have a horrible feeling that it involves the clit, which would be so painful...

Female circumcision generally involves removing the clitoris. Truly barbaric.

Yes, some muslims still practice female circumcision as well which makes sex generally unpleasant and painful for the woman. And the circumcision does not happen shortly after birth either!!

I think I read before that it had something to do with sex not supposed to be a good thing for a woman. So removal of parts that would cause pleasure during sex. Or something.

Evidently female circumcision can also make things better for the man. Though I don't see how that would work, nor do I really want to think about it.

Not only do they sew up the labia, but when the woman starts to menstrate the blood has no way to escape. Many times it will clot inside the uterus and cause the woman to appear bloated. Her man may divorce and beat her, thinking she became pregnant by someone else.

That anthropology degree is sure useful, isn't it?

Oh an one more thing: Usually the labia is completely cut off, resulting in the tissue around the vagina itself to die. This dead tissue is what is sewn together.

I one time got to go to Kenya and visit the Massai.

Wonderful. Down here in the proud state of SC, we have a group of African refugees moving in, the Bantus. From what I've looked up, they have these same practices. Of course, local papers and support groups ignore this and don't say anything about it, while at the same time they talk about how it will add cultural diversity to the area. Sewn labias and circumcised clits. Yep, that will definately be diversity allright.....

I am pretty sure that the practice is illegal in Western Countires ... And just because some one hails from a particular area it doesn't mean they practice everything. For example I am sure that the very same support groups you just mentioned would also be running some form of 'education' program to tell the people of today that there is such a practice in the world and we must stop it.

But please, don't let any of those points get in the way of a good rant

The practice is illegal in western countries, and if you have remotely any evidence that it is being carried on, do not hesitate to report it, please, or at least publicize it thoroughly. The least we can do is keep immigrants from such barbaric places bringing their own sickness along with them to our countries. "Diversity" has limits and this can obviously be recognized when it violates the law.

In Denmark, there has been A LOT of publicity, infuriation and general outrage when it was found that many Somalian refugees still practise female circumcision.

Seriously, I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said. Fenmle circumcision has no purpose other than to reduce the enjoyment of sex, and I oppose it in all forms.

To "normal" women? I don't particularly approve.

But there is a condition I've heard of that some women have an abnormally large hood that prevents them from having a clitoral orgasm until it is removed.

Naturally, feminidiots have kindly lumped this into the 'FSD' camp to make all women who don't orgasm at least five times a day feel inadequate.
