If someone online dies

I was just wondering, I've only known one person who I just talked to online (on paltalk) who died, didn't find out until I messaged a person and asked him where he'd been, if someone here on these boards died, (say that you are the only person who comes here in your house, dorm or whatever) could we not know it for weeks, months, or perhaps never even find out?

Pretty much, yes. It's only the more prominent members or those who have real life friends here who we would know about right away. Anyone else we'd just assume got tired and left.

I assume that if I died the board would find out. Three of my friends have accounts here, although only one posts, but they would most likely inform the board.

I have a network system set up so that in case something happens to me, my friend Kristi here in town can come and let you guys know.

Other than that, Larz is my only RL friend here on the BBS, and he and I don't see each other on a frequent enough basis as is.

I would expect my relatives to check my computer, and reply to emails. If someone like Ro Jo-Mu was still around, I woudl expect him to come online and post something.

But - mainly it would be the emails. So If I ever go missing, someone email me so that you can be informed.

*sigh* this is a very morbid topic, especially given my recent state of mind.

I've got a friend with a semi-active account here, he'd probably tell you.

There are certain people that I care about quite a bit on this message board that I can't get a hold of any other way, even through e-mail, even though I do need to fix that little problem.. That, and I know that a few times people have wondered where I went for a time when I've been missing without notice.

I would imagine that it would simply be as if I stopped posting, no-one here would know as no-one either knows my password or would think to post on here announcing my demise, I would assume that it would be the same for quite a few people on the board.

If I died, I guarantee you guys would never find out.

If I died...yeah you'd probably hear it mostly because one of friends would most likely clean up my messes afterwards.

My thinking is along the same lines as Innerbrat. Someone would mostlikely be cleaning up emails and things and if I had a pm they would reply with the news.

My brother would probably come here just to tell you guys that I died, although his username was deleted in one of the purges...

If I ever disappear without notification, assume I'm dead.

The Silence and I is my best friend, so he'd tell you guys if something happened to me. But nothing probably will...*knock on wood, toss salt over shoulder, other good luck charms*

If I die, you'll more than know it when my secret virus is activated and destroys the board together with the rest of the WWW.

Or maybe not and no one will care. In any case, my family would probably reply to an eventual email.

Bet no one noticed I was away for the last few days in Scotland.
