Kick-ASS!
I don't care for the price, this is every Bondphiles wet dream (pun intended).
Now if only it could sprout wings and a gas turbine like Scaramanga's car...

Is it just me, or does it look like a heavily modified newer-model Mazda MX-5??

Pfft, can a Mazda MX-5 go on the Thames? Hell no!
This car > other cars.

Gah. *Drool*
The only thing that could improve the design would be a minigun in the back.

I was thinking that too, but upon closer viewing, its definately not. Can you imagine a full-size human being fitting in the middle of a MX-5 with a full seat width on either side of them?

That can't be real. It's far too awesome to exist.

The website's BBC, so you bet it exists.
Very awesome! Now if only we had flying cars too.

flying cars. gee, what a great idea. Now every little rabid-fundie in the mid east can have their dream of growing up to be just like Mohammed Atta come true.

Eh...these types of vehicles have been around for a long while. You know, the old Jeeps (CJ-2s, MBs) could be converted to water usage by simply driving them over a tarpauline and tying it up around the sides, then pushing it into the water. It would go as fast as you could paddle it.
But this is a bit faster than a Willy's MB with a tarp wrapped around it.

Hey, we got cars and we got police in cars. We get amphibious cars and we get police boats. We get flying cars, and we we'll have flying police.
If your reason for arguing against flying cars is because you're afraid of an airborne terrorist attack, that's a pretty weak reason when considering that there are nasty car bombs and truck bombs in existence and that isn't stopping people from fully endorsing cars and enjoying life in them.
It's a risk, but I for one would be willing to take it.
Anyway, on to the subject.

You should see the footage of it going. Straight into the water and off at 30mph in an instant. Don't even notice the automatic configuration to amphibious mode.

Seriously, that's one badass car. I mean, I go driving over water. Can you imagine the look on those poor boat-using saps faces when they see me drive by in a damn car? They'll probably turn to the camera and give you that "You've gotta be shitting me" look.

For the same price you could buy a quite good car or SUV and a small helicopter

I bet its hell to work on, what with watertight seals everywhere, no underbody access without removing part of the hull, etc etc.
Of course, if you can affoard a $300 000 car, you aren't working on it yourself.

Drining around on the ground is hard enough, I don't want to go driving on the water, too.
