142.4km....Phew!!

..That's how far me, my BF, and our friend Sandra rode on our bikes today, and now I'm tired. Somehow my BF got the bright idea of biking from our homes in Toronto down to Niagara Falls. He claimed a couple of his friends rode from Toronto to the Falls & back in one day and that they were still walking afterwards...sure they were. I figured it was possible to ride there but not back, well at least not for us since the longest ride I've done was about 150km last year on a bike tour. And so we called our friend Sandy and convinced her to join our half-baked plan, and we left early this morning loaded down with Gatorade & energy bars.
We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day, sunny, cool enough so we wouldn't sweat too much and no wind to slow our progress. We biked along the lakeshore and the seldom used service roads before cutting through the city of Hamilton and continuing on our way. There's just so much you don't see from the highways, the flowers, trees, the fresh smell of country air & vegetation, it was so different! We stopped for lunch somewhere around Grimsby before taking the scenic route into wine country where we took a mini-tour of a vineyard and bought a few bottles of wine (& my BF had a bit too much to drink
![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
).
And almost 8 hours after we left Toronto we finally arrived at Niagara Falls and we were actually feeling pretty good. Like good tourists we wandered along the river and watched the falls (which looked rather anemic today) for a while before riding down the river a bit to the Whirlpool. This is where the river takes a sharp bend and the water swirls around in a huge whirlpool. After enjoying the sights we headed off to the Casino to catch a bus ride home. Me and Sandra had to do some fast talking to convince the bus driver to take our bikes back for free, the guy wanted to charge us $30 apiece extra to transport our bikes back home but we sweet talked him out of it.
And so an hour & half later we were back in Toronto after our amazing & beautiful bike ride to Niagara, and once the wine is nice & chilled we'll be having a nice celebration to congratulate ourselves on a job well done. Yay to us!

I like bike riding quite a lot, but I'd take the bus both ways.

Incredible... The most I've ever ridden on a bike was a few miles. But of course, I was in 5th grade the last time I rode a bike. And yes, I did say miles! Our outdated system of measurement shall triumph over your widely used and easy to use metric system!

89 miles. Not bad, not bad at all. My farthest bike ride is about 50 (Baltimore and Annapolis Trail -> BWI Trail around hte airport and back). Took me about 3 and a half hours.

Toronto to Richmond hill is impressive, what we did today was stupid. It was good fun and all but I'm not doing it again, it's one of those once in a lifetime life experience things. The thing that helped us the most was that we took turns drafting off each other and that we all have really good bikes. Still, I'm pretty tired and I can't really climb stairs right now, hopefully a long hot soak in the tub with my GF will take care of that.

Meh... If I take the top off of my jeep and pull the doors off, I get the same effect, only a lot less wear and tear on the knees and arse. Hehehe.

Wouldn't that just make you more tired?

I said soak in a nice warm tub with my GF not "have wild kinky sex in the tub with my GF". I can't be having sex all the time, even I have limits!
With that said we're getting nice & tipsy on the wine we bought earlier today on our ride, me & my GF have already finished a bottle and we're working on another one from my basement stores right now. Yup, it's definitely helping with the sore muscles but man, those keyboard keys are getting awful hard to find....
Wonderful trip, but it'll be a once a year thing at most I think, and next time we'll have to sample & buy more wine & liquor.

You rode 90 miles on a fucking bike.
I'd be hard pressed to
drive that distance.
Therefore I have determined that you lack poor decision-making skills when it comes to finding ways of transportation. I suggest you take it easy on those leg muscles, too. Their revenge will be most embarrasing/lethal when they suddenly give out whist you drive your car or walk down a long flight of stairs.

Not really, you still have that noisy engine chugging along. Now if you have an electric motorcyle that would probably be the closest you could come without pedaling.

it's not as bad as you think, well, maybe it is, but it depends, god, the wine's getting to me and I'm rambling and not makins sense. But anyways, it helps to ride a bike that's worth $2000 US, at least thats what my BF tells me it's worth since it's his bike that's on permanent loan to me and we all took turns drafting & stuff, plus we took breaks for lunch and wine. My legs are a bit sore but they're fine ,it's actually my back that's worst off but that's not bad either, andthe 2nd bottle of wine has erased all pain from my body as well as making me pretty tipsy. Yeah, we're getting a bit silly me & my BF....

Hmm, being in a nice warm tub and not have kinky sex.
That is a novel concept.

The knees and ass? Think about what might happen to your genitals after spending hours on that seat. Speaking of which, is it really that uncomfortable?

With our high tech anatomically correct bike seats it's actually quite comfortable. They're shaped so that they don't put pressure on the genitals and even come in male & female versions since our naughty parts and bone structures are different. Unless you ride off curbs or stairs sitting down your body will give out way before your ass and genitals. Technology is a wonderful thing, I don't know what I'd do without titanium rail bicycle seats and advanced foam & gel padding.

Yeah yeah yeah, but biking with chicks is more fun. Besides, I got to stare at their asses for the entire ride and they were wearing form fitting lycra bike shorts. Even got to spank them a few times, you can't do that while driving. Did I mention that swimmer chicks have very nicely toned butts, and that both chicks are swimmers? Besides, there's nothing like the satisfaction that comes with doing what we did.
And for the record I believe in the joys of cars.

Not radical enough. I want to feel myself close to death. I want to do 60 Km/h in a rocky trail wearing only minimal protection, relying only in my l33t biking skills, my front suspension and carbon fiber frame.
Besides, chicks dig the muscles.

--Care to "loan" me your bike? All I have is an ancient french bike (Peugeot) made of steal with ball bearing cubs threaded in the wrong direction (making them impossible to replace despite being damaged)....
[EDIT]BTW the seat is very beat up too and makes me sore after only 5 miles[/EDIT]

Your bike is clearly evil. Throw the thing away and buy a real one. An almost decent mountain bike will cost you only about $400 (mine costed $2000 some years ago). Go to a specialized bike shop, big retail surfaces are a no no.
