Man, do Asians and Africans have some fucked up, disgusting folk medicine remedies or what?

One of the few things that grossed me out when I was working at Canada Customs was animal and human body parts. I'd have to say the worst thing I've ever seen was a picnic cooler full of orangutan penises, I just about lost my lunch right there and didn't feel too good for the rest of the day. I don't know what the hell a monkey dick is suppose to cure and I really don't want to find out.

Very odd. But I wonder how hard it is for baboons to survive without their noses.

It has been a long standing joke among my friends that the fastest way for an animal to face extinction is to have large group of asians think there are aphrodisiacs in some small part of the animal, or a small part of the animal becomes a delicacy.
Rhino horns and shark fins come to mind. Whale anything.

Of coarse, the rarer the animal, the more it's worth $$$, and the faster it declines.

Is there any other large ethnic group that is so superstitious?
Here in America, superstion seems limited to ethical systems, and forces of nature, rather than medicine and nutrition. Fundies, Astrologers, and New agers/Pagens. Our quacks try to act scientific.
