More wacky stories. This time...China!
Calm down and beat me up
September 12, 2003 - 3:47PM

A 28-year-old man in western China is making a living as a "human punchbag", charging stressed-out people 50 yuan ($A9) to beat him up, a news report said today.

The man targets people in bars and discos in Chengdu, Sichuan province, and gives them two minutes in which to rain punches and kicks on him in return for his fee, the South China Morning Post reported.

The newspaper quoted him saying he was providing a valuable service to those suffering from tension and work-related pressure.

Reminds me of the ABC News report I saw a few years ago about these two Japanese guys that would go around downtown Tokyo and offer to praise people for a fee. It was quite charming, and you could tell that all parties invovled weren't taking it 100 per-cent serious. :)

I've seen stuff like this in Times Square. Hell, two weeks ago there was a dude touting a sign that said "Best Pickup Lines Ever: $1". And a bum that had a sign saying "Tell Me Off", of course for a dollar.

And then, of course, there is the Naked Cowboy.

Naked Cowboy is just vile and disgusting. He stands in the middle of Times Square in white underwear and you're just afraid that a skid mark might be waiting for you. UGH.

I've seen the guy with the "tell me off for $1" and someone was just yelling at him, cursing him out and he just nodded calmly. It was a weird sight.

Doesn't he like stand right near the Toys R Us? Or is he usually down by the police booth and that statue?

One would think someone who lived on Manhattan would be used to that by now :D

Yeah. My mother and my aunt were apparently quite taken with him, as I recall.
