OK, there's a loser I know who is in his early thirties and has never had a girlfriend in his life. He's also a JW, and he claims that it's hard to find dates because a baptized JW is only allowed to date another baptized JW.

My question is: is this true? Or is he making excuses for his inability to get a date?

Is this the guy you mentioned in an earlier thread ("Who's the Biggest Loser you Know?"), where you said that he suffers from anal leakage and has developed man-boobs? If so, then I guess it's an excuse.

Yeah, it's the same guy. He's quite a sad case, really. I feel sorry for him, but everything that's gone wrong in his life has been due to his own actions.

Wong said he had a poor sense of nutrition; when he wanted to bulk up, he ate like 30 eggs a day and somewhere along the lines of 10 potatoes. Mike speculated that the man boobs were due to all of the hormones farmers feed their chickes to grow them into monsters, and the anal leakage was also a result of that.

I remember when his idea of a square meal was to hard-boil 10 eggs, mix them in with about a half-jar of mayonnaise and 3 or 4 baked potatoes, add milk, mash all of this shit together in a large blender, and then drink the resulting horrifying concoction.

I wish I was making this up, but I'm not.

It's more like any prospective candidates will rapidly lose theirs upon contact.

I'm not a JW, but i know that is true. They are only allowed to date other JWs.

Yes. But there is a couple of reasons for it. First, there is a biblical reason, stating that one should only marry "in the Lord". Another reason is that if a JW should date and later on marry someone of a different faith then there would be problems. Spiritual incompatabilities such as blood transfusions, holiday celebrations and birthdays would be a source of problems. Even more so should they have a child.

But JWs are not forced to stick with other JWs but it generally accepted. A JW can go ahead and date a non JW but it would be frowned upon by others.

He was a loser to begin with. The fact that he joined the JW's only proves that he wants to be accepted by other losers. The only constant in our lives is ourselves...

I'm pretty sure he's bullshitting. I nearly had a relationship with a pretty devout JW in high school, and she never mentioned that she wasn't allowed to date non-JW. Her parents didn't approve of me, but then again, it wasn't because I wasn't a JW (it never came up) but because I turned up at her house in one of my old Goldfinger t-shirts, which had a giant and busty space amazon with an electro-whip on the back.

I know someone that had to convert to JW to marry a JW. So, if that is the case it seems like a waste of time to try and date unless someone is opening to converting. Also , non JW's were not allowed inside the church.

But it really sounds like this guy has problems beyond. Crap, Im feeling pretty good about myself.

It's not true...my mom is a JW, and she's married to a non-JW. AFAIK, it's not considered a good idea, but it's not outlawed or anything either. And Jawa, the thing w/ the non-JW's not being allowed in the church isn't true, unless you have some sort of extremist branch or some shit? I've never heard of it, and a lot of my family is involved in the religion.

Well, it is always possible that was the family's wishes or the local branch is hard core. We were not allowed to attend the wedding unless we where JW's. We could go to the banquet afterward. Although I did not go since the gentlemen involved was a co-worker and was not too close to him.
