We all get hit by the ugly stick after a couple of years of life. Looks like this mother thinks otherwise.
Mother bets on daughter, 1, to become 2023 Miss World

A mother has placed a £5 ($12) bet on her one-year-old daughter being crowned Miss World by the time she reaches 21.
Pharmacy worker Arlene Osman, 33, placed the stake at odds of 10,000 to one that her bonny baby will become Miss Wales and then Miss World in 20 years' time.
Ms Osman, from Pontypridd, South Wales, will win £50,000 from William Hill bookmakers if baby Kloe grows up to be officially named as the world's most beautiful woman.
She said blue-eyed, blonde-haired Kloe has already developed a bubbly personality.
She said: "She's a pretty girl. She's always smiling at everyone.
"I went on a cruise and everyone was really taken with her. If people walk past her, she can't understand why."
Ms Osman, originally from Motherwell in Scotland, won a beauty pageant when she was a child.

I don't know, £50000 isnt enough to retire on, you would think that if she was planning to enforce it, she would bet slightly more on the daughter - say £100 or something, this could be just a whimsy bet (albeit a bit of a dodgy one as far as the child's future welfare goes).
EDIT: It could have been that £5 was the maxium William Hill allowed her to place, now I think about it.

Yeah...the saddest part is this poor girl will be subjected to all sorts of nonsense because the mother will want her deluded dream to come true.

Cheap bet I would guess is the reason. Doesn't hurt too much.
Kid's life is still probably going to be pretty crappy from this though.
