AAARGH!

I’ve just bought my final book for this semester. It’s called “How 2 Take an Exam…& Яemake the World” by Bertell Ollman.

Now, in addition to being over $20.00, while being small enough to fit in my pocket, this book is the biggest piece of bullshit leftist propaganda, I’ve seen in a long, long time (and, coming from a left-leaning moderate, that means something).

Being the nice person that I am, I offer you the “Mind Gulag” test from that book , which “determines how much of your mind is already under enemy occupation”.
Answer True or False:

1. Human beings are basically greedy and selfish.
2. The rich deserve what they have, because they earned it.
3. The poor also deserve what they have, because they haven’t tried hard enough to improve their lot.
4. There have always been rich and poor, and always will be.
5. For democracy to exist, it is enough that two parties contest in elections, and that people are not coerced to vote for either one of them.
6. We are free as long as the state does not restrain us from doing what we want to do.
7. The American government has been a major force promoting freedom and democracy around the world.
8. Most Americans are middle class.
9. Most workers are satisfied with their conditions and would never go on strike if not stirred up by outside agitators.
10. Socialism is what they had in the Soviet Union.

Now give yourself ten points for every time you answered true. Add up the total. Here are your prizes. Those who scored 0-30 win an Albert Einstein Medal for Critical thinking. Take an extra medal if you know that Einstein was a socialist. If you have 40-70, you receive a Tiresias Pin (with points on both ends) indicating that you can go either way. While those who racked up a count of 80-100 win a Ronald Reagan Gulag of the Mind Banner, which doubles as a blindfold, painted in red, white ad blue…
And which course is this book for? Orientation Seminar (the course which teaches you about college life)

My score on the test was a 30, btw.

Have a very nice day.

Then you should write the author a letter demanding your $20 back. He has no right to participate in capitalism if he doesn't believe in it (same reason I don't think Noam Chomsky should be accepting royalties from sales of his books).

it has tiny sections of test-taking tips sandwhiched between the author's rants.

Have a very nice day.

Chomsky's books are not cheap, I might add, especially for poor college students.

It means you're ready for induction into the VRWC.

Not if we eviscerate the proletariat first.

Most of the questions are black and white fallacies to start with, and if that's representative of the book as a whole, it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

Seems like they're trying to say that since Einstein was smart, and Einstein was a socialist, that the intelligent choice is socialism. So it's the best system.

Gotta love Noam. He makes millions of dollars selling his books in which he argues it is evil and wrong to make millions of dollars.

Oh, and the author has openly said that we should do away with capitalism and turn to Marxism.

Oh, and when I asked the professor that shouldn't we have a book that demonstrates the opposite viewpoint, he said that it's going to be too much reading for the course.

Have a very nice day.
