Are there any accounts, whatosever, of what his last words were? Or what the last words of Don Francisco, Theophilius, Giustiantiani, or John Dalmatus were? I tried to run a Google search, but the only result I got was a source that said that Constantine had said 'The city is taken, why should I live?' While very dramatic, the site was also titled something like 'The Sixth Race War', so I'm not terribly inclined to trust it.

I heard it was something along the lines of "I will not be an Emperor without an Empire."

"All who wish to die follow me," is the only thing I've heard, thought I doubt anything you find is close to the truth. He probably didn't say anything; I don't think I could.

According to Lord Kinross's The Ottoman Centuries his last known words were "The city is taken and I am alive!"

At this point he casts off the Imperial mantle and runs into the fight, never to be seen again. On that, at least, every source I've seen agrees.

He had earlier and somewhat more memorably said "God forbid that I should live an Emperor without an Empire" in response to the Ottoman Grand Vezir's peace offer: Constantinople would be ceded, the Morea would recognize the suzerainity of Mehmed II, and the Emperor would be allowed safe exile.
