I have discovered an atrocity so vile.....

I visited the College Park IKEA store, and saw several acres of potentially
good land wasted to store vile overpriced crap with foreign sounding names,
that looked like it was designed by blind rats.

We must only hope that the Ghost of SAM WALTON directs WAL-MART to
open stores in Sweeden - we must begin retalitating against this display
of cultural imperalism by those vile sweedes, lest our children start speaking
sweedish!

IKEA's not that bad. I mean, it's nothing extraordinarily spectacular, but it serves its niche. I should know, I have 5 of them within 20 miles of me. It's decent stuff at a decent price. And they were designed that way on purpose, so you'll get lost and wind up buying more stuff. :D

It should be noted that the IKEA near my home is a great place to go MILF watching. No other store has so many MILFs in one place at the same time, if I was single I could spend a day wandering the aisles in the store wearing my pervert glasses. 8)

You just discovered that overpriced Swede place?

I know friends who've bought literally rooms worth of the stuff...too eh for me...I like something with a bit more character, not quite art deco.

Monitor subject and inplant impulse to buy a "Billy bookshelf"

Why am I posting? I couldn't resist. I work for this Swedish menace, and I have one thing to declare:

Our frames are good and inexpensive! Our plants too!

Not that I care. But we are guilty as charged, purveyors of cheap Swedish crap. However, maybe only a garage sale would be less expensive for some of those items.

As for Wal-mart... there is only one true menace on this blue-green earth, and that awful store is it. Satan himself started that chain, and only the good and holy can destroy that evil empire. Crazy swedes are NOTHING compared to the pure unbridled evil that is WALMART!

Swedish merchandise, eh?

Could I purchase a blonde, tanned, female volleyball player? No? Screw 'em, then. :P

Yeah but they're commercial is funny.
The sad looking lamp sitting on the street waiting for garbage pick up, then the angry swede telling you off for being materialistic and anthropomorphising.

The lamp commercial is classic.

I remember nursing a grudge against Ikea from ages 5-7 because they wouldn't let me play in the ballroom; I was too tall.

That said, Ikea has some really good stuff, real cheap. However, my dad's friend once waited four and a half hours for his stuff. He managed to whip up a lynch mob which began chanting 'I Kan't Execute Anything!'

The guy was an actual Swede?!?! I thought it was Greg Proops (from Whose Line is it Anyway?) using an accent!

Yes, IKEA, yet another thing, which I equate with flushing money down the toilet. The list grows bigger every day, but that's an old timer. If customers actually returned their products when they realized how shitty they where they'd be bankrupt in weeks.

Ech, I hate Ikea, walking through the store nearly gives me a seizure.

I think I had a desk bought from IKEA once. Not sure, but it was probably from there.

Lasted 5 years and is still going. But that's probably the exception.

I've not seen anything I'd have liked to buy at IKEA, ever. Overpriced, ugly as hell and too far away to go and look anyway. Then again, I tend to buy most of my furniture second-hand, as you can find very good, quality stuff in excellent condition for next to nothing.
