Long-Distance Relationships?
Has anyone had them? I think it personally sucks...My first b/f moved away less than a week after we got together. We talked for a couple of months, then he left his house and we didn't talk for aboput two months (until July). After that, we haven't talked. I called his mom yesterday, and got his address...I am going to write him...Octobner 5th will be 6 months...
Anyways, sorry to bug you with my love life...
But I was wondering...FROM THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THEM...do they work out...?

I'm just starting out on one...my girlfriend went away to college. Here's hoping it'll work.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

had two in the last two yrs. the first one was a nutcase, who, in retrospection, I wouldn't date irl either. not for *any* amount of money.
the second one was much nicer. got along quite well, until her not signing online for weeks on end made me angsty, so I broke up with her. that was 2 months ago.
online relationships can work. . . but the trust needed is more obvious. you can break your heart online, or share it with another (I've done both).
I dont regret my online relationships, but I think in the future I will prefer a female I can touch, not type at.

It certainly has its advantages..Enforcer Talen wrote: I dont regret my online relationships, but I think in the future I will prefer a female I can touch, not type at.
Go for it!!
But be prepared to suffer.. pain.. pain.. it's real and merciless. A real girl to whom you give your love can at ease break you into small shattered remains

Rebecca and I kept up a long-distance relationship for 8 months, with a 4-month break in between. It was torture and we both hated it. Mind you, we're happily married now, so I'm not sure what message I'm trying to send.

I kept one going for close to a year before it ended... Personally , I can't handle being in a relationship with a woman a thousand miles away. That doesn't say it can't be done, but I feel pretty confident in saying that a long-distance relationship is among the most difficult to make work.

Currently in one right now... IT's painful to be so far away from your girlfriend of 2 years... Hopefully she'll be able to get into my school next year. :P

Re: Long-Distance Relationships?
My long-distance relationship didn't work out but I was in college at the time; there were too many temptations while we were apart. She cheated the first time around and then I did the cheating 6 months after we got back together. Not something I'm proud of but I was 21 at the time. Live and learn.verilon wrote:FROM THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THEM...do they work out...?
An open relationship might be your best bet. Stay in touch, hang out whenever you can and accept the fact that relationships often change with circumstance.

the temptation thing hasn't really gotten to me, I get rather devoted, but I expect the same devotion in return. . . which can lead to arguments.

Ray, I can't HELP but laugh at your lack of ability to pay attention to things!!! Heehee. GO Bean!
Anyways, I think I might have botched it...but the whole reputation that HE has is what gets me...From what everyone (himself included) has told me, he has been quite the little man-whore...Maybe I put a little too much trust in him? Maybe that is why he hasn't contacted me? Oh, well...I will send him a letter (as soon as I write it out)...Hopefully, we will be talking again...I hope things wok out...I have so many things to tell him, not all good...
Whatever...
Keep posting! BWUAH!

Best of luck there, Verilon.
My long-distance relationship is a strange one, because I know that she wouldn't cheat on me or lose interest in me. You may think I'm being naive, but you have to trust me on this one.
So it sounds great, but the only problem I see is that even if I wanted to, which I don't, I couldn't get out of the relationship without breaking her heart bad. I mean, I'm not saying I want to get out of the relationship, not at all, but it's just that that option isn't there. And I usually like to keep every door open; have a way (if not many ways) out of every situation.
So it's not a problem, but it could be a problem if for some reason I wanted out. Which I don't.
But whatever. To change subjects: good luck, Verilon.

I know two people at work who are either married or living with someone they met from the internet. In November I'm going to America to meet a woman who deep in my heart, I absolutely love, and feel she could be the 'one'.
