I've always thought it was aerius always touching himself at night due to jmac's absence, then throwing his sad condition onto other people.

She didn't say she was going on holiday. Maybe she was picking someone up there, and that's why she answered that way. If she was at the airport and you called to ask her, "Hey, wanna meet up later?" obviously she couldn't if she was far away and busy helping someone out. And "I'm at the airport, no I can't" is nicer than just saying, "Nope, I can't. Busy."

Well, maybe she didn't want to say where she was going because she was on her way to a funeral or to see a sick relative or something. People don't always like to share that kind of information.
