well, that takes all the fun out of things, doesnt it?
let's try this again.
earth is turned donut shaped, cold zone on the inner rim. assume different universal rules that let such a world form and spawn life, for example, humans.

Suddenly I'm reminded of that one 'Wizard of Id' cartoon...
*Two scholars are arguing*
<BAILIFF> Gentlemen! Your Majesty has decided upon the shape of the earth!
*both look up, eagerly*
<KING> The earth is round...
and flat!
<SCHOLARS> What?? How can that be!
<KING> I call it 'The Pizza Theory'.
That's not exactly how it goes, but you get the idea.

Well Dalton would be world dictator for one thing and the US police would be really happy, and coffee houses would make a killing

Well, if it was a Boston Cream (my favorite) then it would just be a slightly more squarish earth around two opposite sides. Yum.

Well, if you were in the inner circle of the donut Earth, you could be able to see the other side of the planet. And where would the center of gravity be? And on a donut shaped Earth, there would be a lot of cops.

Homer Simpson comes to mind
HAWKING: Thank you for your theory on a donut shaped universe. I will have to steal it some time.

Voyager once encountered and got trapped above a world for which time moved much faster then the rest of the universe, but it was normal in shape.

If Earth was donut shaped then the sun would be coffee mug shaped, and it would be annihilated as it was dunked into the sun.

I've played a number of computer games tat ran under that premise. It wasn't that strange.
If called your earth "torus-shaped" you could have escaped all these donut jokes.
