COuple of questions about Evolution, the film starring David Duchovny and Orlando Jones, not the theory of evolution.
1) The dodgy Head and Shoulders advert at the end. Is it just an advert or is it a sly dig at that actors strike a year or so ago about advertising?
2) What's the song that's being played during the party at the school/college that goes "drop the bomb" or something like that?

Its been a while and I really didn't commit the movie to memory, they kill the creatures with head-and-shoulder or something?
Its hard to say. When watching T2, and Arnold is standing next to a Pepsi vending machine, then later you see the scientist drinking Pepsi, and if you pay attention there's no Coke vending machine ever seen.... its clearly a product placement.
But when they do something so obvious, it may just be they want a well-known product just to be funny, sound 'real', or whatever. I'm not sure if the head-and-shoulders company got money out of this. There might have been just an agreement to use the name/product. Sometimes a scene just wouldn't be the same if you were using Pert-Plus.
I believe that for E.T., they originally wanted M&Ms, but the company wouldn't let them use the name or something. So they went with Reeces-Pieces instead, I don't *think* any money was exchanged, just an agreement to use the name/product. I think this was the start of product placement, after sales of Reeces Pieces skyrocketed following ET.

They found out that we are carbon based and vulnerable to arsenic. And the same path on the periodic table for the aliens leads to selenium. ANd that is one of the ingredients in head and shoulders.

In the X-files once they wanted to use the phrase: "Lets get a quarter-pounder." but McDonalds wouldn't let them, so they just changed it to burger.

The song is Powerman 5000s "Drop The Bombshell" i think. It might just be bombshell. It's from their unreleased "Anyone for doomsday" record that was abandoned, or something.
