Three days to go until your five second haircut. I'd say, have fun, but I know you won't but it will be an experience. Hang tough killer. Keep in the back of your mind that its all an act. You'll get thrashed just because it is on the schedual. If a reason isn't readily available, one will be created to thrash you. Take it, and like it and get stronger.
Good luck, soon to be devil dog.

Does "basic training" = "boot camp"?

Remember, the end of the gun with the hole in it is the end the
bullet comes out....if you can understand that, you'll be able
to make it thru Basic
And Mr. Grenade is no longer your friend when Mr. Pin has been pulled.

Don't volunteer for anything really dangerous, tho. We'd like to have
you back in one piece.
(and by 'dangerous', I mean "we need someone to clear landmines on that road. Any Volunteers?")

You had a
foot long mullett?
Not only is the Marine Corps gaining a new recruit, but that comedic hair has been banished! Outstanding! A win-win situation!

I would also add to that this: (which got me through some tough times in basic)
Those Drill sergeants (Or DIs in the marines, I think) can do alot of things. they can make you miserable. they OWN you, They make you hate living. But there's one thing they CANNOT EVER do: Stop time. Take the tough times moment to moment. In fact, live basic moment to moment. You'll do fine.
And don't listen to Sheppard. When you exit Basic, you'll be able to clear landmines with your new standard-issue marine corps M143Mk6 "Anti anti personnel mine clearing titanium 3 foot long dick from hell" Which doubles as a Jim-Dandy toenail clipper!

Yeah Full Metal Jacket. I have a good friend in the marines, and he loves it. Have fun and give 'em hell. And remember,

Some of many words of advice:
First, visit
Surviving Marine Corp Boot Camp if you have not already.
Second, remember that you are not a marine until you graduate. Don't show up thinking that you are one already. You don't want to be the little overacting shit who sucks up to the DI because he believes his MCJROTC experience makes him special. Just do your job, do it right, do it fast, and help your fellow recruits do theirs. Always be a team player, never say die, and remember that no matter what you do or say, the Navy nurses will not date you.
Third, Patton was in the Army you fools.

And after you're a fully qualified, combat-capable soldier, bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia.
