American divisions in Germany
I know the US has a couple divisions stationed in Germany (remnant from the Cold War), but does anyone know what kind of divisions? I think one of them is armored, but the other?

One's armored, ones mech infantry, though there pretty close in strength, US armored divisions have five tank and four mech infantry battalions, and mech infantry is four tank, five mech infantry.

Didn't the 3rd ID use to be the 3rd Armor Division?Sea Skimmer wrote:One's armored, ones mech infantry, though there pretty close in strength, US armored divisions have five tank and four mech infantry battalions, and mech infantry is four tank, five mech infantry.

No it was previously the 24th Infantry (Mechanized). The decision was made to keep two of the Army's most famous divisions in the active force when the army was told Clinton wasn't goanna let it stay at twelve divisions in 1994. The changes there implemented in 1995/6 So..
2nd Armored Division became the 4th Infantry Division
3rd Inf. Div became 1st Inf. Div
24th Inf. Div became the new 3rd Inf. Div.
Three divisions where involved in this I believe because the army was also restructuring the makeup of its divisions and this made it simpler. This link might explain it but I don't feel like reading through it.
