Experts say Tiger was out to kill Roy........
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

This was already posted in the preexisting thread on the matter

Generally, predators to not attack unless they mean to kill(unless they attack in defense, or, like sharks, dont have hands to figure out what you are with... so, like an infant, they use their mouth... unfortunatly, they have row after row of razor sharp teeth)

Please dress your link. And I think that it's ironic that he was mauled by his feline life partner.

Eh.. maybe not out to kill him. It seemed very stress induced at-the moment bite by all accounts. If the tiger was intent, he would've just kept mauling at him and at the production crew instead of running back to his cage.
Kind of like how your precious dog can suddenly snap and bite at you one moment. Granted, it won't get your jugular and you'll have a chance to teach it never to do that again.. but hey, if you play with fire you will get burnt.
Such as some dogs, I forget what they're called.. Japanese/Korean, not Gindos.. they're near as predatory as any "domesticated" dog. Most people get along fine with them.. but sometimes it really takes a master to almost extreme means to define who's the master and who is not.

From what I've read about sharks, it could also be a territorial thing... grey reef sharks have a threat display they perform involving arching their back before they bite someone.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Generally, predators to not attack unless they mean to kill(unless they attack in defense, or, like sharks, dont have hands to figure out what you are with... so, like an infant, they use their mouth... unfortunatly, they have row after row of razor sharp teeth)
Back on subject, there've been stories arguing the reverse as well. I have trouble believing that Montecore was trying to hurt Roy: if he was, I'd think Roy would have his throat torn out entirely.

Exactly. You guys have got to remember that they hand-raise these cats from birth. Hell, when a female has a litter, she's been known to bring the cubs and put them in their hands! If that doesn't say something, then I don't know what will...besides the fact that these so-called experts are fucking morons.beyond hope wrote:From what I've read about sharks, it could also be a territorial thing... grey reef sharks have a threat display they perform involving arching their back before they bite someone.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Generally, predators to not attack unless they mean to kill(unless they attack in defense, or, like sharks, dont have hands to figure out what you are with... so, like an infant, they use their mouth... unfortunatly, they have row after row of razor sharp teeth)

Trytostaydead, was it akitas? They have a reputation as biters.
Of course, that brings up the point that according to the CDC, there are 4.7 million dog bites in the US a year and 800,000 of those are serious enough to require hospitalization. Between 10-20 Americans a year die from dog bites. Certain breeds of dog also get a lot of attention for bites (pit bulls are the current favorite,) but consider that at least one list of the top offenders for bites listed the golden retriever as one of the top 10. Why? Because people literally own millions of them (there's something like 68 million pet dogs in the US.) "Man's best friend" leads the way over wild animals in terms of fatalities, with perhaps 7 deaths in the 1990's attributable to mountain lions and 45 deaths since 1900 due to bears (47 now, with that "bear expert" and his companion factored in.) The number one killer of man in the US is the deer. Collisions between deer and cars account for roughly 130 fatalities a year according to the Department of Transportation (and 47,555 dead bambis, incidently, just in Wisconsin in one year.) Of course, the biggest killer of man worldwide is the mosquito, by virtue of the fact that it spreads diseases like malaria.
For Axis's benefit, biting a human is not an automatic death sentance for a dog. I can only speak for the laws in Baltimore County, but there a dog had to be deemed a "dangerous animal" in order to be taken from its owner and put down. We had files on dogs that had bitten two or three people and were still at home with their owner.

I dunno about biters, but a friend had this huge akita (bigger than a saint-bernard) who would approach every total stranger that walked into the house and drool all over him, and demand that he pet him (otherwise he drooled even more... if you pet him, he would only drool on your lap or something). I don't think I've ever heard that dog bark once in my life.beyond hope wrote:Trytostaydead, was it akitas? They have a reputation as biters.
I think my friend got robbed once, but at least the thief got drooled.

That's why I think that laws which target specific breeds of dog are a waste of time. Ban pit bulls and rottweilers and the same assholes who mistreat them in the sorely mistaken belief that a vicious dog is a better watchdog will find a new "macho" breed of dog to abuse. German shepherds have a reputation as biters too, and a lot of the ones I've encountered have been really sweet-tempered animals. It's all in how they're trained.Slartibartfast wrote:I dunno about biters, but a friend had this huge akita (bigger than a saint-bernard) who would approach every total stranger that walked into the house and drool all over him, and demand that he pet him (otherwise he drooled even more... if you pet him, he would only drool on your lap or something). Yes the tiger could of possible bit Roy out of frustation or could of been helping him. But did it intend to kill Roy? No. Becuase he isn't dead.

Exactly. When the wound was examined, it was quite obvious that the tiger wasn't intending to kill him. He just didn't know that you couldn't carry a human around like you could a cub.Darth_Shinji wrote:Yes the tiger could of possible bit Roy out of frustation or could of been helping him.
