I am thinking about buying myself a trumpet and I am wondering which one I should get.
If it helps I'm somewhat an intermediate and use a Bb trumpet.
Thanks,
Jason

You're ready to move up. Go all out, get a Bach Stradivarius, with a 37 bell. You can find them used for 500-700 bucks, I'm sure.

Yamaha's are okay.
If you can get your hands on a Bach Stradavarius 37 bell, then do so. theyre standard's and in my work with Orchestras, it's the most common Bb trumpet that's in professional circles, though the Schilke is fairly common also. It's a good standard, and is very versitile.

Ditto that. You'd never need to buy another trumpet. (though it would be a good idea to keep the old one around for playing situations where it might get stepped on, like marching band and that sorta thing) My dad's Strad. still works great after 25 years.

Heh I don't have an old one around. My school has an elective for band and they already have the instruments for the students to use. I want my own trumpet.
Thanks,
Jason

you can get a decent intermediate Getzen used for $400-500 new ones are upwards of $700. There is one actually in the window of a shop a few miles from my house. lightly used with a leather tote bag and a Bach 7C mouthpiece for just under $500.
