I have returned (Or How I Hate Bell Sympatico)

I am back from being offline for over a week and I'm pissed. Last week I made the decision to switch from Rogers HiSpeed Internet Cable to Bell Sympatico DSL. After waiting for a couple of days I received my modem and the rest that comes with it. I made the installation but alas no internet. I got the modem connected right, and it was accessing the net but I wasn't able to see any sites and on top of that it was slow and would cut out. I then called the Sympatico Tech support. After talking to them for an hour, they were stumped on why they couldn't get my connection to work properly so they switched me over to Bell Canada to see if it was my line that was the problem. In less than a minute, I was told by the technician that I was 2km too far to receive an effective connection. I had to be within 5km from their buildings in order to have a proper connection.

What really pissed me off was that when I asked why I wasn't told of this before, she said that the Sympatico techies didn't want to tell me that I was too far to receive an effective connection. They left it up to her to tell me. On top of that she said that true the service is available to you, but you'd be reduced to dial up speeds.

Like it takes much effort for them to install extenders in the switch boxes.

If he's far from the switch, that won't do him any good. Sounds like their service really sucked in this case. I personally use Bell Sympatico and it's generally been excellent for many reasons, not least of which is the generous terms of service (I have unlimited bandwidth, folks).

I use sympatico but they've pissed me off a couple times. Most noteworthy was when I was first signing up. They tried to sell me high speed but failed to mention that high speed would not be in my area for another four or five months! :x

I wanted to join Sympatico but they've fucking deceived me. Now that I am back to Rogers, I have to pay a connection fee ($55).
