A Chinese martial arts expert was in custody yesterday after turning the tables on four burglars armed with knives, killing two of them and seriously wounding a third.
The 28-year-old man, known as "the doctor" for his practice of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, managed to seize one of the two knives carried by his assailants and saw off the entire group with the ferocity of his reaction.

Magistrates in the central Italian town of Empoli are now seeking to establish whether his self-defence constituted an excessive use of force.

The butchery, worthy of a Quentin Tarantino film, began shortly before midnight on Friday when the four men knocked at the apartment of a Chinese hairdresser in the centre of Empoli.

The hairdresser, her assistant and "the doctor", who operated from the same premises, were reportedly overpowered and tied up before the group, all thought to be in their 20s and 30s, ransacked the apartment.

Disappointed by their meagre booty, the attackers allegedly threatened to rape the two women unless they told them where the rest of their money was hidden.

At this point the doctor managed to free himself, seize a knife from one of the aggressors and deliver a series of lethal stab wounds.

Investigators found the body of one man, who had been stabbed in the heart, sprawled on the staircase and another man bleeding to death in the street from a wound to his leg. A third man is recovering in hospital from a punctured lung.

The doctor was found crouching in the entrance to the building with cuts to his shoulder, face and hands.

Investigators are trying to determine whether he inflicted the injuries while defending himself inside the apartment, or hunted down the burglars after they had fled.

HOLY FUCKING MIERDA! GO CHINESE KILLER GUY! It's about fucking time we get a story about a ninja going Van Damme on some fuckfaces. Gimme a break! Excessive use of force my fucking ass, if some fuckstick invades MY home, and has a knife, and threatens to rape two of MY friends (Or whatever their relationship was) they're either crawling out, or getting hauled out on a strecher with a few extra holes in em. The guy did right and deserves a medal. the morons who broke into a ninja's house ( I know he may not necessarily be a ninja, but it sure sounds cool to say it) and got killed deserve a darwin award. Fuck them if this case goes to trial. but I suppose in a world where a kid gets potentially expelled for giving an asthmatic having an asthma attack fucking Albuterol, anything is possible.

Bet no one fucks with him in prison, anyway....

if that had happened in england he would probably get about 8 years in prison... our justice system is fucked up.

even from that story you can tell it was self defense... and remember guys, they managed to arrest this guy with what seems to be no resistance, crouched in a door, that has to be a plus in his favour.

This guy acted in self defense. Italian judges should remember that he was the victim not the aggressor. For his bravery he deserves a medal.

What do you think would happen if this was the U.S.? IMHO, I believe the surviving robber would sure the fuck outta the guy syaing that, "Yes, he DID use excessive force, caused grevious bodily harm AND mental anguish" Hell, he may even get away with it. Those poor, poor robbers, court TV would report. They would paint a picture of 5 desperate men pushed to a life of crime to feed their 23 kids collectively, how their mommies didn't hug them enough when they were children and how they were preyed upon by bullies while they were in high school. And the big, mean "Ninja Doctor" killed his only friends in the world right in front of his eyes.

Depends on which State. If it happened in say California or any of the States in the D.C./Maryland area where selfdefence is frowned upon and lawyers are in abundance, then something like what you described would indeed happen. The Doc will spend a long (maybe life) time in jail while the perps will get minimal sentences if any. The perps are also likely to get a settlement of some sort for their injuries and you can count on them being back on the streets within a year at most.

If it happened in say, Texas, the Doc wouldn't even get charged. They'll question him, give him an "attaboy, good job!" and send him on his way while the perps get their asses locked away for a good long time. That is if they don't "resist arrest" and get shot. Of course these are the extremes, all other states will fall somewhere in between.

The fact that he seized the knife from one of the assailants would go a long way toward helping him establish self-defense. I remember a cop once telling me that it's a big problem for you if there is any perception that you planned your violent "self-defense" in any way.
