The Sox claw their way back from the brink to beat New York 9-6. Next up, the Cubs are wiped out by a freak meteorite right before a game-winning grandslam...

With the way the Yankee bullpen is playing it's hardly surprising.
Plus with Giambi, Williams, and Posada batting in 9th you could just know they wouldn't be able to make a comeback.

Cyaround,
Jason

It would just suck if it was the Marlins and Yanks in the world series. Go Sox, go Cubs!

Marlins-Yanks would be weak on ratings, compared to a Cubs-Red Sox matchup.

However, Cubs vs. Red Sox would be one of the signs of the End Days, so I'm pulling for Marlins vs. Red Sox, with the Red Sox in 5.

A Cubs-Yankees matchup would be a ratings whore. A Sox-Marlins Series would be ... eh.

I have to spend 10-12 hours a day editing, proofreading, putting in stats, and typesetting for 3 different annual baseball books, so in many ways I hate and am sick of baseball, and don't root for any teams. I do appreciate the historical significance of a sox/cubs matchup - Clash of the Cursed Franchises

If the Yankees lose the series to the Red Sox, my math teacher is going to go nuts. I'm rooting for the Yankees, on the off chance that a Sox victory would make him so mad that he would take it out on us by assigning extra homework.

Game 7 is being hyped as if it is the second coming. (if there was a first coming to begin with, but that is for another thread altogether) ESPN is already calling Pedro-Rocket II the "Game of the Century". I mean come on, i'm a diehard Sox fan, and i think this game will be a heartstopper, but some things can be overdone.

Since when was anything in baseball a "heartstopper"?

spoken by a man who obviously has never eaten a sausage and peppers sandwich from a cart outside Fenway Park. :P

Try watching your team's shaky closer try to hold a 1 run lead in the bottom of the 9th with 1 out and two men on and tell me there's no such thing as a heartstopper in baseball.

I liked Bill O'Rielly's comment on the Sox-Yankees game. "I just pray that not too many felonies are committed."

And that, as they say, is that.

Boston won the battle, but lost the war. 6-5 Yankess in the 11th inning. Aaron Boone's homer was a beutiful thing. :D

Well, I used up all my profanity against my TV, so all I have to add to this thread is a good old, defiant, spiteful:

Well, we all knew how it would end. Now the Yankees can kick the Marlins around and all will be well. But that was a HELL of a game, though. :)

Another boring Yankees World Series.

It's a heartstopper when you have an emotional investment in one of the teams winning. That's why it's so important for a team to do well in order to draw fans; the game itself is boring as hell, but the lack of a gameclock and the potential of a single-inning flurry of runs can leave you hanging until the last out if you actually care who wins.

In 1992-1993, when my hometown's Blue Jays won the World Series, I watched the games. How could I not? It's not exactly my favourite sport, but it's my home town team! And I'll admit that I almost hit the roof when Joe Carter blasted his Series-winning homerun out of the park. Of course, the very next year was the strike ...

Your facts have no place in here! I am planning on living in my own little dreamworld for the next twelve months, pretending today never happened.
